100lb Propane Build

Do you think a 100lb. propane tank is too small dia. for a reverse flow? The tank I have is 14" dia.

Remember though a 100gallon is much bigger than a 100 lb tank

My mistake..it is a 100lb. tank. roughly 14" dia. and the cylinder of the tank is 38" long. Roughly 6600 cu. in. so a little smaller than yours.

How did this work out? I know this is a couple years old but the thread seems to have stopped in progress.

i've been itching for a smoker for a couple years and my dad's 100# propane tank is finally old enough that they won't/can't fill it any more.

Your build looks very very similar to what I've imagined and drawn up.

I never got round to building a pit out of the tank. Brother needed a tank for a new deer camp, replaced the valve and had it recertified. It's got a few more years of service left on it now....
