Was able to get some turkey breast for $.79/lb. Thawed them out today and boned them out. Right around 20lbs of bone in breast ended up being just over 10lbs of meat. Keep that in mind when calculating your meat for the day. We will still have more loss during the cook.
Make a brine with salt...
Is it me or are things different concerning turkey prices and sales. I cook bone it turkey breasts every year for my Church Food Pantry Thanksgiving. We are mindful of costs and try to purchase the birds on sale, the more we save the more we can feed. I'm not a any type of budget but I do...
Bought a couple of these one sale a week or so ago . I always plan for 2 meals when I buy these .
Deboning is my go to on these . Makes a great end result .
Completely deboned , I peel the skin side back , but leave it attached in the middle .
Season up under the skin ,
Pull the skin back down...
As the title says we made a turkey dinner.
Here is the turkey breast seasoned with just salt and pepper. It was brined for 24hrs. BTW I removed the skin for this one
Turkey cooked and pulled at 158°
Sliced up
Full plate. The Mrs made all of the sides.
I think we are good to go for...
I purchased two Honeysuckle White boneless turkey breasts. The label shows that they're already in an 18% solution. Would I necessarily gain anything by doing an additional brine before I smoke them, or am I just setting myself up for a salty mess?
I was asked to cook turkey for our Church food pantry. We have a food pantry twice a month where we serve a hot meal and then families "shop" our pantry for grocery staples.
Serving 100 people. I cook these amazing tasty bone-in turkey breasts. 15 breasts plus one for our Church staff. We...
Spent some time looking online myself, but I get such mixed info. Some sites saying anywhere from 20-40 minutes per lb. So for anyone who has already smoked a 5lb boneless turkey breast, how long at 225?
How long can I keep a fresh, not frozen, turkey breast in my garage refrigerator before I cook it? I say garage refrigerator because it might get opened once a day,
I am going to smoke it the day before thanksgiving, and just want to know how early I can buy it.
After the holidays, turkeys go on sale and I stock up the freezer! At 69¢ a lb. it makes a great smoking bargain! I would venture to go out on a limb and say, that other than the holidays, its not a regular "go-to" BBQ item you see too often around here. But I'll make my case here in that turkey...
I was gifted an Instant Pot for Christmas and I have been playing around with it quite a bit. So far, it has produced excellent eggs for pickling and awesome Pork n' Sauerkraut. A litmus test of mine for this Instant Pot was to make beans without soaking. I must say, these came out pretty good...
An email came out a few weeks ago about stuffed turkey breasts. I have a whole turkey i plan to take the breasts off of and use for that recipe. My question is any recommendations for smoking the remaining turkey.
Smoking two 5lb turkey breasts this weekend. I've only smoked full birds with the bones and everything and I've figured out the timing on that. I've never smoked boneless breasts. How much time per pound should I give a boneless turkey breast? My gut tells me 20-30 min per pound to get to an...
This is how I do a turkey (or any poultry).
Equipment:
Food Safe container or bucket. I use a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot that has the
image on it. That means that the plastic won't leach harmful chemicals into your curing brine.
Curing Brine:
I gallon of potable water (drinkable)
½...
Until I purchased my Backwoods Chubby G2 smoker last November, I have never smoked before. So, I am still working to get things right. The good news is everything has been edible and enjoyable so far.
My setup is this; I am located in Salt Lake City and yes, the winters seem to be a little...
