Might be a little late but this is what I use. Not to spicy and a little sweet. It's a pretty simple rub.
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup paprika
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons ground black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Works out great with a sweet sauce.

Haha, what's up SMF? Here's another go at a nice 3# tri-tip. Smoked for 2 hrs until 155 IT. Then wrapped till 170ish. Great smoke ring, wow, fantastic flavor.
