    Lit 15 coals in chimney. Put in center of 15lbs of lump.Had 2 1" valves open and cap off of nipple. Hit 260 before I new it. Capped nipple and closed 1 valve. Temp dropped fast to 235.     If i build a firebox out of 3/8" plate, would a 18" sq box be too big? I think a 15" box is just over 1/3 but i also want to be able to grill on my firebox. But want to be able to control heat when smoking. Just didnt know if too big will matter. Thanks. Wayne

    Just got a new brinkmann trailmaster. Seasoned yesterday. Put a poke butt and a chicken on 30 min ago. Been reading here a while. Alot of good info. Magine I'll be asking questions along the way. I'm in SW Louisiana and its about 46 Deg. this morning. Thanks  Wayne
