    Slow 'N Sear ribs

I just picked up a 'Slow N Sear' too and will be using it for the first time this weekend.  I had a home made Smokenator that I built and it worked great for years until the water pan burned a hole in it.  The SNS is heavy duty and well built.  I'm going all in and doing a brisket!  Wish me luck.

    Weber smoker success!

Interesting set up,  I will have to take some pics next time I do it so I can explain it a little better.  I took a pan about like what you got, put some water in it and set it on the cooking grate with the charcoal directly below the water pan.  Then I have another wire grate that I put over...

    Weber smoker success!

So I have two Chargriller's with the SFB, one is a DUO and the other I've customized as my "dedicated smoker" and added a Nano Q with 25cfm pitbull fan.  I've always had decent results after years of dialing it in but its a fuel hog and I don't always trust the temps I get with it.  This weekend...

Char-Griller SFB with BBQ Guru NanoQ

Les, I just started about half a chimney of lump coal and dumped about a half 10lb bag in my SFB and turned on the NanoQ.  About every hour or so I would go check on it just out of habit and the temp stayed right on the money.  I did a 9lb pork shoulder this weekend, it took a lot longer so I...

Char-Griller SFB with BBQ Guru NanoQ

Got it all set up last week and used it for the first time.  Temp out side was close to 0 and with the wind chill it had to be less than that.  Any how, the NanoQ performed flawlessly and kept the temp very stable.  Talk about peace of mind.  Here are some pics. Can I get a Hell Yea on the...

ANY GOOD WAYS TO INSULATE MY OFF SET WOOD SMOKER??

Wool blanket from an Army surplus store works good too and they are cheap.  I just folded mine in half then cut a hole for the chimney.  Wool has a very high burn point too, if I recall it is over 400 deg.

No one has this setup?  Oh well, I went with the 10cfm so I will have to keep my fingers X'ed.

Connect both sides of a CharGriller Duo?

I have been thinking about doing that to mine also.  My thought is to drill out a hole for a 1" to 2" diameter pipe, that is threaded on each end so you could cap it if you need to.  Place it under the grates so it would not interfere with anything and use the gas side as a cold smoker.  I don't...

Char-Griller SFB with BBQ Guru NanoQ

I'm in a small bind.  I will be getting a NanoQ from BBQ Guru for Xmas any one have it on their Smokin Pro with SFB?  My main question is the fan, should I get the 10 cfm or 25 cfm?  One website says you need the 10,  BBQ Guru says the 25.  Of course the 10 cfm is alot cheaper, so what ya think...

German Red Potato Salad (w/grilled Potato)

Wow, first time ever making German potato salad and it is by far the best potato salad I've ever had!  Followed almost to a T except I dumped some of the left over bacon grease on it.  Had to sample some before letting it sit for a day and all I can say is yum, that is excellent, added it to my...

    Baby, its COLD outside!

A good trick I learned from BBQ Pit Masters last season was from Myron Mixon.  I went down to the Army surplus store and picked up a wool blanket, folded it in half and cut a hole for the chimney to come out.  Works great on my Char-Griller to keep the temp stable.  It even hangs down abit over...

    Prime Rib Opinions Please

That is a good point eman, It has to be select, not much fat on it at all.  I think I will inject it in the morning while the smoker is heating up.  I got it all wrapped and seasoned up and it is in the fridge.  I will post pics tomorrow night, I snapped some before I did anything to it.  Thanks...

    smoke in my eyes

2 cents from a newb but.... I have almost the same set up minus the extension.  With my chargriller I start with 1 full basket of Kingsford get it red hot then dump it and add about 25 more.  From there I throw split 12 to 15 inch long logs on every 45 minuets or so and I've never had a problem...

Sounds good to me coffee junkie.  I have two buddies that are just getting into it, they both are starting with electric smokers but they have also been bit by the bug!!  One in Missoula and one here in Billings.  I'm hoping they will move up to real wood and charcoal smokers soon, like taking...
