I also HAD the OJ combo smoker. I was tired of the same things as described in your post. I sold it and bought an ORIGINAL OJ smoker. Its MUCH heavier steel and once heated, i hold temps very well. I used the ols smoker for about 5 years and now, will never look back!
All.... i found it!!!! An original Oaky Joes smoker!!! Its got a horizontal smoke chamber with a vertical chamber welded to it! HEAVY metal. Just what i was looking for. It's mounted on a trailer so i can move it around with my 4 wheeler. I'll try to post a pick when i get it home later today.
Its a shame we don't live closer. I have an oklahoma joes combo for sale. I just dont use the propane part of the unit. I want a dedicated offset smoker , not with a propane grill aside of it. 300.00
I talked to Craig yesterday and he quoted me 850 for a smoker that was just the style i needed. I coudn't believe it! Its 400 cheaper than the old country bravos and ALOT heavier!!!!
