Built a uds my 3rd one can't get it up to temp unless I open up both 3/4 ball valves and open 1" cap. Is it possible to have them to high where they go in barrel that's the only thing I can see different from other ones I built. It has a weber lid and a heat shield above fire box, help

New uds build works awsome just seasoned it .built it for a friend the lid is bottom of weber works great just weld to barrel lid and cut out middle 1 1" and 2 3/4 for air.the d sticks away from barrel.
Building my second uds . my son said dad why throw away the bottom of that weber u used on first build flip the bottom over and use it for a lid. Well with a little figureing I welded it to a barrel lid . Cut the lid out inside and walaa. It's a lot taller than lid off weber and looks pretty...
Ok I already built a uds u of m uds that works great.Some of my friends liked it so much they asked me to build them one.so i picked up some barrels with lids that had a paint liner in them.I burned them off and the outside I just use 150 grit and right down to metal like nothing...
I'm smokin pork steak never tried it before oh well we will see how it works put a rub on got pan of apple juice in for moisture and smokin away at 275- 300 don't want to cook all night using apple wood using my chargriller trio
