    It's gonna be a good Sunday!...Q-view

Trying my hand at some pork butt...got 2 from Sam's, about 18lbs total before cooking. Fired up the smoker around midnight last night, got it up to temp and the guests of honor go on around 1am. Air was pretty cool and dry last night, fought a little getting TBS to show up but finally things...

    First time baby backs

Found some nice looking baby backs at the Wallace World and thought I'd give them a try. I started out making Jeff's rub but didn't have enough paprika so I used some guajillo chili powder (sorry Jeff)...which changed the taste slightly and added some heat I think. I did make Jeff's BBQ sauce...

    First chicken completed....

Got a wild hair and smoke a chicken today... No prep or plan, just fired up the smoker, ran to the store and grabbed a bird. Rinsed it off, patchcocked it (is that word?), patted it dry, slung some SPOG on it and put it on the smoker. The smoker was right around 275-280 the whole time until...

Dry run/seasoning on new Smokin Pro --- surprised a little.

Put it together yesterday evening and did a first burn this evening. I've bought some stuff in the mod threads but haven't implemented many of the just yet. What I did was flip the main chamber grate upside down and slid it against the SFB wall, used a flat piece of thin metal (Lowe's, 4"x12")...

    Go big or go cheap?

I really want to start smoking meats and other goodies but my issue is whether I should get an above average smoker to start with (something like $500 - $1200), this should be a bit easier to deal with as far as fewer mods needed, more accessories available, longer lifespan, etc...or should I go...

I'm Jamie....completely new to smoking and looking for my first smoker. Been lurking around here for the last few days, reading and reading, and sopping up the drool from some of the Qview I've seen on here....wow! I'm leaning heavily to the Chargriller Smokin Pro as my first go 'round...
