I look forward to following this thread, great story, good info, and my better half would not be impressed if I told her I was inspired and have a new project idea ;-)
Good luck, have fun, and congrats !
Hi Gang
I got a few more details from the Mrs :-) @JJ - Yes Steak Diane Sauce (Hot and spicy). They were tender and probably could have cooked longer to be more "fall off the bone" but they were definately tender. The left overs the next day were also yummy!
The temps were not as consistant as...
Hello fellow SMF people !
It's been a while since I've posted so I'll make it worth your while, I have so much to tell and hopefully in an entertaining way LOL
Few weeks ago I smoked my first real rack of ribs, I did pretty well because the Mrs bought more and asked that I do it again. This...
Hi Gang
I'm still pretty new to SMF and I'm all ears, so to speak.
My buddy is going to give me some moose to smoke this summer so I'm looking for suggestions on rubs, marinades, cooking tips - you name it.
Hopefully we can share info and I will definatelllllllllllllllllly take photos...
I love this idea and have a question . . .
With the smaller barrel holding up the bigger barrel, what consideration have you made (or do you need to) for it possibly tipping over?
Will you need something to help balance/stablize?
I have 2 45 gal drums sitting around and I'm liking your set-up...
I'm thinking 2-3 inches, this will allow more air to flow up and help your fire significantly.
Although my design is sompletely different, I need/have flame all the time. I have that much distance between charcoal and bottom of fire chamber.
I'd give it a try :-)
Take care
Dave
Hi Gang
My better half and I were at the property so I got to cook with "Joe" Who hoo !!
I read up on Minion Method as suggested and I think I did well.
The temps were far more regular and almost predictable :-)
So off we go .....
As you will see I cooked 2 chickens - 2 different ways.
I...
Thank you for the kind works and I'm very anxious to smoke again.
I got the recipe for texas rub here but found it to have a little too much pepper. (note to self)
I definately fiddled around with vents (even though I told myself not to and just leave it)
I took notes on temps every half...
I remember reading about the minion method at first - when I started all this - Time for a refresher LOL
I cooked pork :-) I'm still laughing at myself.
Thanks for the advice !!
Dave
HI Gang,
Summer was kinda crazy but I finally got to it.
I hope this post is fun and interesting for you and of course ,,, I have a few questions.
So I was so anxious to get started - I forgot to take the label off ! hahahaha
Ok, so here I start :-)
I got the bed of coals ready ...
Hi Gang
I read that cedar should not be used to smoke but could not find the reason.
Is it because it will give off fumes (like pine)
I planed a lot of cedar and have 5 garbage bags of shavings I was hoping to use :-(
Thanks in advance
