    Fuel for Mini- Smokers

    Welded up my Mini-Smoker this weekend, and am ready to start figuring out her quirks when it come to fire.    For you mini-smoker operators out there,  what kind of fuel do you use?  Charcoal?  Lump?  Sticks?    What works for you and what have you found that doesn't work?

    mini loin roast on new mini reverse flow q-view

    I like the gas stick burner! How dows that work with hot embers from the sticks falling down on the burner? Was thinking about incorporating one of those into mine, and was wondering about the ash from the sticks clogging the burner.

    How adequate is the firebox on yours? When I ran the calculator for mine, it showed a 5# propane tank is about 1/4 the volume of the cooking chamber. Is that acceptable for this size smoker? or should I be looking for something bigger for my build? Also, what type of fuel do you run in yours?

    Scored a 20 Gal Air compressor tank today. 14"x30" My idea is to build a small reverse flow smoker I can park on my patio, Something along the lines of Bikeman's Am working out my measurements and details, and hope to be starting on this thing soon. Stay tuned.
