I use my Traeger for smoking meat... I use a smoke cube for cheese. I will put in a pan of ice if the temps are warm since cheese will melt at 100 degrees...
Ok, I put 9 eggs on this afternoon. I set them at 225 degrees and left them on about 1 hour and 45 minutes. I think I will kick the temp back up to the 275 range for two hours on my next ones. I liked the smoke flavor better on the first batch I wrote about when I did six eggs. They were...
Sorry Wally. I was eating. Lol. I have nine on my Lil Tex right now. It is a test on the 225 at 1 1/2 hours to see how they turn out. From what I have read that is the perfect time and temp. So I will know more later...
No, I tell you what. Right out of the fridge and on the grate turned out really good. Not overly smoked, but for sure a great smoked flavor. Give it a try and 225 degrees for 1 1/2 hours and see what you think. The smoke will definitely penetrate the shell.
They are awesome. But I do believe 225 for 1 1/2 hour will be enough time and the perfect temperature. I have nine on now, so am anxious to see how they turn out.
Ok, I couldn't stand it any longer. I have read up on some that have taken eggs right out of their fridge and put on their Traeger at 275 degrees for two hours. I got about 15 minutes to go and they will be out there the 2 hours. Hoping for the best... Love my 2012 Lil Tex.
Iced Cheese...Not really, but it has been too hot to smoke cheese lately. So I helped it out today. It was around 75 degrees when I put the cheese on. The pan of ice really helped. It has been on for about 4 hours. It is 90 degrees now. I just pulled it and have it cooling in the fridge. I was...
I use the square tube that I found on eBay. It last longer than my Amazen 6 inch smoke tube. Plus it is square and lays flat in the smoker. But I fill it with Apple pellets. It will last an easy 3 hours or more. You can also use chips in the square one. They stay lit where they don't in the...
Today is the first time for me to try my hand a smoking Tilapia. I made a brine with brown sugar, kosher salt, some garlic powder and some onion powder. Then mixed it all in apple juice. I let the fish soak for a couple hours and then put in on my Lil Tex at the smoke setting. Things appear...
Love my Lil Tex. Bought new in 2012. Added an Ortech T100 digital controller and the fold down shelf. Absolutely the best smoker I have ever owned. My wife built me the Packers table out of a pallet. Go Packers!!!
I use an amazen smoke tube with pellets. It is a six inch tube and will last about 3 hours. I put the cheese on frog mats or an equivalent grilling mat, inside my Traeger. One thing I have found out (by accident) is that if you can leave the cheese in the traeger over night, it will have a much...
Any one else using a Traeger Lil Tex? I bought mine in 2012. It had an analog temp control. All I have ever had to do was I installed an Ortech T100 controller because I wanted digital. It has by far been the best smoker I have ever owned. I got a 15lb turkey in it right now. Lol...
Thanks...I have found this ad on the net. Sending my son to a Costco store so he can get one. I love my Lil Tex....Since I added the Ortech T100 controller any way.
Buy it. That is a Traeger Century smoker. And well worth it. I would love to have the link to the store that has them for 499.00 Oh yeah, All Traeger grills built after 2008 are made in China. I have a 2012 model Lil Tex and sure won't have any other kind. The only big change I made was buying...
Thanks for the post. I have a buffalo roast setting in my fridge that will go on the smoker Saturday. So have been looking for tips to smoke this baby.
Thanks again for posting.
