My rectec paint is less than perfect, and instead of touching up the 3-4 inch places that need to be touched up, I was thinking about just sanding her down and painting it all. It seems most people just paint their cookers black. That is all fine and dandy, but I was wondering if there were any...
I haven't ever done a step by step on how to cook anything, but I thought (after some inspiration of going through Mr. Bear's how-to's) that I would give it a shot. This recipe has been in my family for years, and it is a staple at family events and dinners. It is very simple and fairly cheap...
Heated up the RecTec to just under 500 for this filet. Had no problem getting great sear marks and texture from this steak. Now, mind you I have the aluminum grates that sear better on my grill/smoker. Still very impressed with how versatile this machine is!!
Guys,
I have made snack sticks from straight venison. (This may be my mistake) The sticks look/taste great, but they leave a thin filmy texture in the roof of your mouth. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you!
My family got me the add on smoker box for my Rec Tec yesterday, as well as the bigger grill cover to keep everything all dry! Boy am I excited to have the extra capacity and ability to cold smoke and have warming trays as well!!
In my day, I have done many a butt, countless wings, logs of bologna, and a couple turkeys, but I had never conquered the almighty RIB! So with a meat sale going on in my local area, I picked up a pack of what I thought was two racks of spares, but it turned out to be 3! So back and forth I went...
Has anyone ever smoked potatoes beside their turkey to later mash them up and use as mashed potatoes? I have read through all 19 pages of the veggies threads, but only potato threads I see, are about baked potatoes. In my line of work, I work with large seed companies and every...
Here is a picture of the snack sticks I just finished up. I ground the beef and pork on night 1 and mixed in the seasonings/cure from Owen's BBQ. Let that rest in the fridge overnight. The next day I reground the meat and then stuffed it in the collagen casings and let those sit in the fridge...
Kroger has their brand of turkey on sale this week in my area for .59/lb. I end up having to smoke 3 for Thanksgiving and was wondering if the quality of Kroger's turkey was as good as any other?
This weekend, I took my Wife's Grandmother's meatloaf recipe and smoked it instead of putting it in the oven. It turned out fantastic in my opinion! Their family doesn't care much for spicy food, so this meatloaf is pretty simply and kind of sweet tasting, but it is delicious.
3 lbs Ground...
Once a month at a local grocery/butcher shop, they have a truckload meat sale, where they bring in tractor trailer loads of meat and you walk through the truck and pick your meat out. I really enjoy this sale as you get some pretty good deals. Picked up 2 of butts, 2 slabs of ribs, and some full...
I recently acquired a RecTec off of craigslist for a very good price(I have always wanted one), and have been putting it through its paces. So far I have done wings, boston butts, bologna, ABTs and some stuffed bell peppers! This thing is great, and with the amazn tube to go along the smoke...
Hi all!
New to posting on the forum even though I have been reading on here for quite a while. My name is Dylan and I live in the Middle Tennessee area. I currently smoke on 2 different smokers ( a charboiler pellet smoker and a knock off egg) and have plans to build a small trailer smoker in...
