Ordered a new smoker to replace my rusted out chargriller & my broken MES. I wanted a BGE but with 3 children in school even a weber smoky mountain was not an option. I got a char-broil double chef smoker from eBay. It should be in early next week & I'll gives a report
My 3 year old MES quit in the middle of a cook. The controller still works & you can hear the thermostat click but no heat from the element which does not look burned out. Before I take the back off has anyone done any repair work on their MES

Sometimes wood that has not been seasoned (dried & aged ) will smell bad when burned. I use the rule that if if doesnt smell good when burning i dont smoke with it
Sure looks like at least the parts are vwell used, but that smoker will probably be ok after my grandchildren are dead & gone.Its not a bad price & from my E-bay experience although his reserve is probably $400 to 450 u can always call & dicker on the phone on big items.

got my MES 2 yrs ago for Xmas. I don't use it as much as my horizonal smoker in good weather but in the cold use it a lot. Basically when its nice & I would like to enjoy the journey I'll use the horizonal but when its not I'll use the MES.
