Breakfast sounds great (pot full of grits/cheddar cheese would be nice...)
But, it would be tough for me to not want a couple of thin slices shortly off the grill......
Good Luck!!
Watch what you say about him, Bud is in the house.
Just kicked Tonto off of the computer. We are going to attend the first annual Meat Forum Gathering. Plan to drive down from West Michigan and rent an RV in the area. Count me in on the blue grass front. Have great bg collection and will...
So, the super bowl bbq that started on Saturday night at 11:30 pm and ended about 4PM on Sunday transpired in -15 degree wind chill Michigan Winter weather. These are some of the lessons we learned ;
1) Always have an extra tank of propane
2) The apparent smoke plumes that seem to last for...
Thanks for the feedback on tank life. Guess mine lasted about the average time given the sub teen temps. And, by all means, I've got an extra tank....about 6 am on Sunday morning, the tank went out and off to Speedway I went.
See our new thread on "lessons Learned from quing in sub zero weather".
Sorry for the information freeze.....ooops, more than a Fruedian slip. We started out Saturday night at 11:30 PM with a 8 pound butt followed by a 8 pound brisett flat at 2 pm and finally ribs the following day. Hickory chunks and 4 degrees. By Sunday at one, we were cold, very tired and...
Welcome. You can't find a better source of information and help on the beautiful art of smoking meat! Just wondering, is there a bbq or other camp cooking type Merit badge?
Cheech, Bud here....the lesser half of Tonto and we love tri tip. Had it at a booth at the old farmer's market on Fulton and Fuller. He sold tri tip sandwiches that were so good. BTW, Gary's Meats in Lowell is a great local butcher. I'll ask him about tri tip this week and let you know.
Big...
We've been using mustard on the butts and ribs. Like you said, Jeff, it acts as a great paste to hold the rub. Wonder if there is some other agent to rub on that doesn't have much inherent flavor? Tonto wants to use Worchester Sauce instead of the mustard on the brisket.....any thoughts? Has...
Went to Hartford to pitch office furniture to "The Hartford". They are building a new corporate headquarters building. Some beautiful old buildings but you don't want to been on the city streets after dark.
Debbi,
Just got home last night from a little town in your state known as Hartford. Had a great fish sandwich at Mickey's. Taxes are daunting and Ct has three of the poorest per capita cities in the US which doesn't help.
Good luck with your super bowl smoke.

I'm mostly rooting for an excrellent q on Sunday. With subteen temps and a brisket, butt and ribs being readied for kick off, I just want good groceries and a close game.
As a long suffering Cleveland Browns fan, I'm not a huge fan of either team. But, given we live a hundred miles from Chicago, and the Colts jilted their original city of Baltimore and also given that the game is a lot more fun if you are rooting for a team - go Bears.
