I understand the reasoning more smoke. I just thought stuffin them might be less work if it didn't alter them much. BUT !!!! My equipment was a # 32 grinder w/pully so it could be motorized, which it wasn't. I had a 3/8 tube on it. I do have to say this was my first time trying to use the...
The glass may already be tempered (for safety) but what holds it in? The rubber door seal can be changed out to fireplace door rope, or a big bead of high temp RTV.
Just wondering if anyone has put Bears sticks in casings and if so did they turn out good. I have the stuff to do them in casings, just want to know if it alters them much. Thanks
Is it true SD, meaning you don't use any yeast. I've started starter (just flour & water) had it for a year but never got nice loafs like those.
Makes me want to start another one.
Just a guess here, one on the right young maple? Left maybe poplar ? I can't blow up your pics so its hard to tell. The secound guess for the right might be young Elm? Usable ? Maple yes, Poplar nah, Elm NO.
To get custom sizes that big, expanded metal grating might be your best option. Give the edges support with 1x1 angle then slide in on wood cleats ? Maybe make them half the depth so you can handle them full of food. Two small racks per shelf.
Maybe you could carve me a big one to scare them off. Now I'm worried, my smoker sets about 30 ft from some of our hives YIKES.. I'm not cookin for 'em thats for sure.
Here's a peek at my first batch. Did a small batch to see how the ol' fridge would do and I must say : Texture = Perfect Seasoning = Good a little salty (cured 24hrs, maybe too long??) Smokeyness = Perfect (Beechwood) Sorry for the blur all had was my phone camera. The toothpick method...
Not sure about electric end of your build, I would plug any holes just to keep moisture out of your insulation. Unless your cold smokin I'd ditch the plastic door cover and any plastic interior trim. Check those racks if your using them, they might be galv (food contact+heat??). Stack & vents...
Looks like a slot in the center angle and a notch in the rod. Lift the door and it slides out latches automatically, lift door, hold up rod , close door. Is that a good guess. Great Build.
I'm not sayin yes or no, but before stainless, meat hooks were galv (no rust). I personally know a beekeeper (2000 hives) stores honey in 500gal. galv tanks (wholesales to Sue Bee Honey). Have seen galv pans for boiling maple sap. I know welding or super heating is bad I got sick off the smoke...
Thanks, It started to snow here today, so the bee season is done, Maple season ain't till spring, I got an extra 11 cord of firewood looks like its SMOKIN season.
Hello All, Funny how an addiction can start. While workin our beehives I joked to my wife "I need to stuff this "smoker" (used to calm bees) with hot dogs, I'm hungry" Well it just grew from that day on. Did a fridge conversion (woodburner), it has worked good but like everything has room...
