    My first competition this weekend

October 8, Ottawa Illinois, Smoketoberfest. Backyard cooks only, no pros. If it doesn't fit in my Honda Civic, it's not coming. Ribs, chicken and pork butt catagories, but I only have my 18.5 Smokey Mountain so I only entered ribs. They supply them, baby backs. I'm just doing my usual method...

Which pellet grill I should buy? Traeger, Camp Chef or Req Teq?

Those probes juuuussssttt fit through the port. When I use a Smoke probe for a temp alarm there's only one way to manipulate the CC and Smoke probes through the port.

    Pellet storage, live and learn

There was standing water on top of the pails, but they screw on, and have O rings. They were screwed on tight, so I suppose I expected too much. $27 for 80 pounds of pellets at Costco, all is not lost. If I were still buying Traeger pellets at a dollar a pound I'd be more upset.

    Pellet storage, live and learn

I've been storing pellets in food grade 5 gallon pails with screw on lids, with an O ring. Sitting in the non insulated shed, never an issue. Today I was committed to cooking and it was raining all day. I set up the easy up tent and used pails at each corner to prevent the tent from blowing...

Which pellet grill I should buy? Traeger, Camp Chef or Req Teq?

I have a Camp Chef Woodwind PG36, so just a larger version of the. I bought it because pork butts fit the upper grates, I don't think the Traeger has as much room. After a year I like it a lot. They seem to have solved the connectivity issues with the wifi controller.

    Auger Stuck

I have ribs in my Camp Chef now. Just opened my phone to check the app, I saw Stuck Auger, an email from this thread. I thought I was getting a warning that my auger was stuck.

I wouldn't poo poo pellet grills just because of this. OP seemed to have had a perfect storm of everything that could go wrong. They certainly have pros and cons. Many of us have them and haven't had any issues.

    Make ahead ribs question

I've done 6 racks in my WSM 18.5 in the racks. They just barely fit, have to curve them around. Works fine, just the appearance.

    Make ahead ribs question

I have several of the racks. I prefer not to cook with them because where the ribs touch the meat side of the ribs, or touch each other it rubs off the rub and it doesn't look as nice. I also prefer to use a mop instead of a spray bottle while cooking, the racks make it impossible. My two cents.

    Make ahead ribs question

Thank you everyone, all good ideas. I had some ribs left over from Sunday, even zapping them in the microwave and they were still excellent. I'll probably completely cook them completely, minus the sauce, then grill them the day of with the sauce to put a little char. I'll be getting St. Louis...

    Make ahead ribs question

Event coming up, I need to smoke 20 racks of spare ribs. I've determined I can get 10 at a time in my Camp Chef PG36. I do 3-2-1, the foil part is with butter, honey and brown sugar. I understand I can partially cook ribs the day before and finish the day of, which I want to do so I can get half...

    Camp chef xxl

I negotiated a CC blanket when I bought my PG36. The magnets in it were junk, and if you got them too hot the failed altogether. Some Xacto knife skills and some much larger magnets from the hardware store fixed that, but for what they charge I feel I shouldn't have had to do that.

    Camp chef xxl

I looked at the cold weather blanket, $200! Just my two cents, I used a Harbor Freight welding blanket on my WSM for temps below freezing, it worked well. $20.

    Camp chef xxl

The only input I have is Camp Chef seems to make good products and has good customer service. Based on one pellet grill I have, and the two minor problems. My two cents.

    Auger Stuck

My only experience on pellet grills is on my Camp Chef. The auger flighting doesn't look very strong, just designed to move loose pellets. My feeling is beating on the augers is a bad idea. My 40 years as a mechanic says I'd try twisting back and forth, with whatever get dumped in there to try...

If it is indeed rust, perhaps Coca Cola? I think Mythbusters said it actually does dissolve rust.

I was trying to get an idea what the OP was working on, it looks like Traeger Commercial 200 is still available. Is it trailer mounted? I feel if we had pictures of it we may be able to help. https://www.dormontappliance.com/Traeger-Grills-COM200-LARGE-COMMERCIAL-PELLET-GRILL-TRAILER
