whats in the smoker this weekend

I've got a 12# brisket in the Chargriller, using the Afterburner for the first time. Three hours in and no problems, temps holding between 230-220.....I like this thing! Steve

    Hey, Y'all, from North GA

Welcome to the forum Debbie. It's good to have another NE GA smoker here and you picked a fine cooker to learn with. I also have a Chargriller and I know you will be cranking out great 'cue in no time. Steve

    Anyone down South planting yet?

I lost my lettuce/spinach by a freeze Easter weekend. My cabbages are doing fine. Last weekend I started planting my tomatoes and peppers. I have 12 toms so far, most are heirlooms and 6-7 peppers, only 2 sweet. I also planted a few eggplant. We've had very pleasant weather the last couple of...

    Pulled Pork - Complete Disaster

When I'm doing largish butts or shoulders it always seems to take 11-13 hours to get them to temp. That's the way it is if you wanna go low'n'slow. I did 2 butts last night, started at 4pm, I didn't pull them off the 'griller until 5:30am this morning. Cooked all night between 250 and 200. Sure...

Who cooking show do you never miss?

I really like Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations on the Travel Channel. Not your typical cooking show, but he's very entertaining. I also watch Alton Brown, Emmeril, Bobby Flay.....and of course Giada. :)

    Howdy from Atlanta

Welcome to the forum DM. If you haven't already, search the forums for "Chargriller" and you will fine tons of great info on modifiying it to turn it into a much better smoker. I've had one since Christmas and have done a few mods and she cooks great. It's not bad out of the box, but can be...

    BBQ Smoking Tools and Accessories

I'd have to say the one "trick of the trade" that benefited me the most is fire management. I started with an ECB bullet charcoal smoker and the firepan mod was crucial for getting good results. Now I have a CG w/sfb and I added a charcoal basket and it's much easier to manage the fire. Good...

    Daytona Brisket

Well, I'm fairly satisfied with the results. It hit 190 about 12 noon. I sliced the flat and pulled the point. It came out pretty tender and the pulled was very juicey.

    Daytona Brisket

I started my 1st brisket last night at 7pm. It is a 11# and I used a simple rub of salt, pepper, garlic powder. I hope it will be ready to slice and pull before the start of the race today. I also made up a batch of ABT's. This 1st picture is about 9 am, just put the ABT's on, the brisket is at...

    Pork Shoulder Question...

Welcome to the forum Seth. I, like you was not successful in my first attempt with pulled pork, but after all the great advice from the guys at this forum I am now cranking out very good pork. Got to get the internal temp up, that's the key. I usually wrap mine at 165, and then crank up the...

    All Nighter

It's noon and we have pulled pork. This is the 1st butt that I foiled and I am now a firm believer. I foiled at 165 degrees and it hit 205 at 8:30am. I wrapped it in a towel until noon. When I unwrapped it, it just began falling apart....like butter-meat! I pulled it all and splashed on my...

    All Nighter

I've just started a 5lb butt in my modded ECB. It's rubbed with Bad Byrons Butt Rub over a coat of mustard. Nice lunch for the wife and I tomorrow. Steve

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I am now in the process of doing the mods on my ECB. I'm going to check the stores tomorrow and find a good digital thermometer. Steve

    Cooking temps on a ECB

I'm new to smoking and to this forum. I have a Brinkmann Smoke n Grill and I'm not happy with the "thermometer" on the rig. It has 3 settings, "Warm- Ideal-Hot". Anyone here that has one know about what temp is "warm" and "ideal"?? I've smoked a couple of butts and some chicken on it and the...

    Smokin Newbie

Hi Folks, I can't believe it took me so long to find this forum. I'm 42 from NE GA and I'm fairly new to smoking. I started grilling alot after I got married about 8 years ago. Grilling is good for steak, fish and shrimp, but I was rasied on southern BBQ so I finally bought a smoker 2 months...
