    Think I screwed up

If the holes bother you you can fill them with very short bolts for now or try to use them for something else like make a shelf or tool holders. I have plans to modify my older UDS and it will leave me with 4 holes, I am going to try and use them for 2 small shelves.

    Smoked Salmon

Smoked some salmon for the first time this weekend at my brothers request. I'm not a big fan of fish but I tasted some and it was good. I will definitely be doing some for myself soon. Forgot to take a photo of it on my UDS or before I took the first bite. I used the brown sugar and salt dry...

    2nd UDS

I ordered it online from bbq smoker supply, it's really nice and heavy duty feeling.

    2nd UDS

Hey mattkm, I am only guessing as all I have done was the seasoning but the difference is the air intakes are direct instead of using the extension pipes and also I have 1 larger exhaust and not 4 smaller ones. In my backyard the wind seems to swirl a lot so the smoker gets hit from all sides...

    2nd UDS

Thanks guys, that's a good idea about the deep dish pizza pan, I never thought of that. That will make a great modification.

    2nd UDS

I had a week off work with no plans so I decided to build a 2nd UDS. I made a few small changes from my first one and just from doing the seasoning it seems to work a little better. I then decided to put it up for sale on Kijiji but if I don't sell it I won't be disappointed. If it doesn't sell...

    9.21 pound pork shoulder

Thanks everyone really enjoyed it and the recipe was super simple, I've got so much I am tempted to eat it for every meal until it's gone. Hmmmm, pulled pork in my oatmeal, I think it can work lol.

    9.21 pound pork shoulder

Made my first pork shoulder on the UDS I built last fall, I used Jeff's Cherry Dr. Pepper recipe. I could not find the Cherry one in singles so I used the regular, didn't want to buy a whole case as I don't drink pop. Had it on for 11 hours and it only reached 197 degrees as my fire started to...

    Windbreaker

Just before the winter started I was smoking some ribs and had a hard time keeping the temperature steady because the wind was really gusting. While I've been hibernating from the cold weather and dreaming about my next smoke I started to think about making a windbreak. I was on a slow walk...

    UDS lid question

I am heading to Home Depot in the morning to get the sealant you recommended, been a busy week getting snow tires on my family's cars. I just tried my Weber lid on the drum and found it doesn't fit right. I found an old central air conditioner cover that I will be using to cover it and just use...

    UDS lid question

I have Weber Performer and tried the lid from it and it is a little too small, leaves about a 1/4 inch gap on one side, would need to modify it but seeing as I us it a lot I would need a second. The Walmart in my area only sells a Weber for $149 and that is also all they show on the Walmart...

    Newbie saying hello

Thanks for the welcome guys, this sight has so much information I'm going into overload trying to absorb it all. The down fall is that I'm having trouble concentrating at work, the good part is all I can think about is my next smoke and building more UDS'
