So. Im sure this is a "smokey" debate but Electric vs Coal vs Pellet vs Stick Burner.....
Im guessing that as with anything BBQ its up to the preference of the owner/user, but is there a consensus on the flavor differences and final product (in generalities) between the various methods of heat...
That seems to follow the few rub recipes Ive found, with that
aspect you mentioned, CliffCarter.
TallBM Sounds reasonable. I appreciate everyones suggestions. Im working on my base rub now, trying to get it to a place where it can be "bumped" in different directions. For example, my inlaws are...
As said many darned times here on the forum, the ECB is an awesome smoker to learn on if the budget only calls for under 100 bucks. You might need to mod the body with gaskets and mod to the air flow ect, but it can be a great way to learn to smoke.

My practicality side says "wsm will do ya fine and it will be just as great without any major renovations. Out the box, good to smoke"
But man I wanna big ole offset. When family comes...
Brad here from the Hudson Valley region of NY. Getting geared up to buy my first house, and as soon as that happens, whammo, smoker town! I think the WSM is on my desire list, 22.5 model. But my ego says "get the big ole offset because it's big and looks badass and would need a few dollars in...
