A turkey would approximately thirty minutes per pound. If smoking a twelve pound turkey, the general guideline is 6.5 hours. Once you smoke a turkey, you never cook one in the oven again.
You could, but it's not going to taste the same as the ones which were smoked. I'm not sure if the drippings from the others would have any effect deeper than the surface. What I would do is just do it in the crockpot on the philosophy that bringing it probably would be better than not bringing...
Well I would, but I don't drink. I quit in 1995 because I would have woke up in hell one morning if I hadn't. Needing a new vice (ya have to have a vice), I decided to adopt food as a vice. Anyway, I'm going to go with marinating one and a rub on the other and see how they turn out.
Haven't tried his sauce yet, but before I even got into smoking, I would make a meatloaf using Italian sausage and barbecue sauce, so it should work just fine.
I've decided to try marinating a couple of butts in Captain Morgan and apple juice overnight on the third and put them in the smoker in the morning. Good idea or would using a rub and using the CM and apple juice as a spritz be a better idea?
Welcome to the stone age club. I don't have a digital camera either. A boston butt marinated in Captain Morgan and apple juice would probably be pretty good. Marinate it in one part rum to three parts apple juice.
I have a beat up old H2O myself. The thermostat died and the waterpan has holes in it, so my tax rebate present to myself will be a new one. Great story about the neighbors.
A good start would be an electric smoker. It's a hassle free way to get started and you just put your soaked wood chips in and let the smoker do the work. A grill shop would probably have wood chips and some grocery stores carry hickory and misquite (sp?). Low&Slow, I'm downright jealous of your...
Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm smoking some Boston butts for the fourth. I'm going to marinate them in one part Captain Morgan spiced rum and three parts apple juice and smoke them with apple wood. I probably won't be able to post a picture, since I don't have a digital camera.
I'm new to this forum, but not to smoking. My tax rebate present to myself is going to be a Charbroil electric H2O smoker. I chose the Charbroil over the ecb because with the Charbroil, you can adjust the tempurature without modifying the smoker. I'm still going to put a vent in place of the...
