    The LIVE Pork Butt Thread!

I appreciate the advice guys.  No need to feel like a nudge.  This is what this site is all about.  I am still learning most everything about smoking meats, and have done very well so far expect for my first smoke (I fell asleep and the temps were high).  Actually just figured out how to get a...

    The LIVE Pork Butt Thread!

I fully intend to cook them to IT.  The 6-8hrs is just a guess on the time it will require to reach IT.  If the unfoiled butt turns out a little dry I will save it and use it in beans or chili.  I have no worries about both not being eaten in a timely manner.

    The LIVE Pork Butt Thread!

Hello all, Today I am smoking my first two pork butts EVER.  I have been reading a lot, and also watching BBQ Pitmasters for advice and different mehtods.  I actually found two roughly 4lb butts at my local store (very small town, and small selection).  I made a homemade rub and rubbed them...

I have a 7lb Weston all steel construction stuffer.  It works great!  I have done a few batches so far without problem.  Just need to bolt or clamp it down though.

    Michigan Meat Prices

Thanks Mad Kaw!  They had an area with them and I picked up 5 slabs of them today.  I have only done baby backs, so this will be something new for me.  They look good.  I think the first weekend with warm weather up here they will be on the smoker!

    Favorite beers

Luv2putt I would like to try a beer from out your way.  Only problem is I am 2.5hrs from Kzoo, and it is very difficult to find in my area.  I know they have problems finding it down state because it sells quickly.

    Favorite beers

I was at Bell's in Kzoo a few weeks ago.  Hopslam right from the source is great!  Also had their Bourbon barrel aged cherry stout.  It was very unique and had a nice kick to it.  Can't wait until the Winter Beer Festival in Comstock Park, MI!!!

    Welcome Michiganders

Ribs turned out pretty good.  I tried changing the cook a little since my previous times they would fall off the bone with every bite.  They left a bite mark, but had just a touch too much tug.  Now if I can get them inbetween they will be perfect!

    Ribs! Its whats for dinner!

Made my thrid batch of baby backs today for dinner.  My last two batches have been good.  Both were very tender (fall off the bone) and super moist with great flavor.  Today I tried a couple different things.  On part of it I spread mustard to help the rub stick and part of the ribs had the...
