First Impressions: Day 1 with MBG 1050 - (long post warning -- too excited to be brief)

I'm the opposite here. I did not want to add mods to the 1050, but the quality just wasn't there. Although to be fair I did wait over a year before adding mods and in general terms agree with you, with the exception of the firebox mod. I'll advise that people add the firebox mod immediately...

First Impressions: Day 1 with MBG 1050 - (long post warning -- too excited to be brief)

Welcome and good to see another 1050 owner around. I unfortunately disagree that no mods are necessary. My smoker is less than two years old and here are some pics. Keep in mind I have the cover, and keep it on my patio under an overhang, so it is reasonably well protected from the...

Smoked Wings and Air Fryer finish?

I'm interested in this as well. We have an air fryer built in to our oven and I've been curious about finishing wings in there instead of on the smoker. Currently I crank the smoker to 430-450 to finish. Following for sure.

    Looking real good.

    Brief Hiatus

Thanks! They turned out pretty good, sauce was "just ok" this time, but I also think I am my own worst critic. Thinking I am going to need to upgrade from the lazy store bought stuff. An important qualifier! lol Thank you! Thanks - I saw some of your other posts when I was catching up. I...

    Brief Hiatus

Have no fear, there has been plenty of beef. If I ever take a beef hiatus you’ll know all hope for me is lost.

Regret I didn't get the chance to say goodbye and thanks for the knowledge. RIP Bear.

    Brief Hiatus

Haven't been on SMF for a few months - didn't have a working smoker, holidays, and time flies! Got the smoker repaired today, and going to do wings tomorrow. Thankfully I had some PP in the freezer to hold me over and entertain my brother and his wife when they were in town last month. Glad...

    MB 1050 Gaskets & Documentation

Back in action after about 2 months of down time with the smoker. Installed the LSS Firebox mod in early Dec and it was a real pain. The factory firebox was so warped and deformed I had to hammer it to hell to get the mod in. First time I fired it up after getting the mod in I smelled acrid...

Masterbuilt Gravity Series Smokers Are a Quality Control Nightmare; My Review

Wild, I wonder how some are so warped and some look as you'd expect. Do you run at high temps?

Masterbuilt Gravity Series Smokers Are a Quality Control Nightmare; My Review

Mmm…bacon. Bacon has all the bugs worked out. Nothing at all wrong with bacon.

Masterbuilt Gravity Series Smokers Are a Quality Control Nightmare; My Review

My smoker is about 18 months old -- only 18 months -- used intermittently, kept covered and under shelter -- ideally storage conditions. Here is my firebox after 18 months of not too heavy use. I just can't take anyone seriously who rejects people complaining about quality control and material...

    Troubleshooting a MB 560

Hey Okie I'd start with switches. I was having similar intermittent issues. The ash bin door was the one giving me fits, and it was hard to track that down. I replaced the ash bin switch, lid switch, fan, and controller, and unbelievably both the old and replacement ash bin door switch...

    Griddle for the MBGF 1050

Interesting, I haven't yet pulled the trigger on the LSS mod kit for griddles and manifold cover, but plan to. Think I'll still go the LSS route as I know it'll be high quality stainless.
