Hi guys and gals. I'm currently smoking three racks of pork spare ribs in my MES 40. The good news, I have finally got my AMNPS smoking for the entire time of the smoke, after some help from Todd.
My question is, since planning to do the 3-2-1 method, does smoke continue to be effective while...
Did I read this correctly? You put the butt in the smoker overnight, but you lit your AMNPS in the morning before you went to work, and your wife turned on your smoker before she left for work? The finished product looks great, just curious about the steps mentioned. :)
I'm happy to report that the tips that Todd gave me worked like a charm. This is the first time I have not had to relight my AMNPS, and they smoked from 6:30pm last night until almost 11:30 this morning. Unfortunately, we are giving both roasts away to a family that lost their mother this week...
Lets see if I can remember off the top of my head.
1: Remove the water pan.
2: Place disposable 8x8 aluminum pan on floor below where the water pan would be.
3: Put AMNPS on top of drip tray where the water pan would have been.
3: Put another 8x8 pan on rack above AMNPS.
4: Make sure...
I have had the same problem with my MES 40. I have contacted Todd Johnson directly, and he has given me some advice I am going to take this evening when I smoke a couple more pork butts overnight, and pray it works. :) I suggest you send him a private message, or a message linking to this...
After I posted that question, I figured that would probably be the response. My question came from knowing, at least for my smoker (a MES 40), it has a sealed door, and the only air coming in will come in through the chip loader if it's pulled out, or the exhaust high up on the side at the...
I'm curious how long a full propane tank will stay burning with just one burner going in a gas grill, and the difference in burn time at high, medium, or low settings. I ask because it isn't cheap to fill a propane tank these days. Would the fact that a gas grill isn't nearly as air tight as a...
Three questions. 1: What did you marinate them in? 2: Did you smoke them, or just cook them on the grill? 3: What's a butter bath? Does that add a lot of fat and oil? I guess that makes 4 questions. :)
They look GREAT, thanks for sharing.
My water pan was empty except for foil to keep it clean. The drip pan that is a smallish pan on the outside on the bottom of the housing also filled up. I can't imagine what would have happened if I had the water pan full of sand. I would probably had a really big mess on my driveway instead...
Well, it was doing fine, until I left for a luncheon birthday party at my wifes office. I found it had stopped smoking, so I pulled it out, and just as I was about to hit it with the torch again, I could see some embers and it started smoking a bit. I still torched it for a bit, let the flame...
The drippings shouldn't fall onto it, as it is underneath the water pan. So far, so good, but the temperature, after being on for about 2 hours and 15 minutes, is now only at 187. It was 192 when I first typed that, now it's gone down to 187. Maybe it's the wind. Also, there is a LOT of...
So, earlier this week, I asked for advice on how to smoke 8 Boston butts at once for a party this weekend. Well, here are the photos so far. The next one won't come for another 11 hours or so.
I can't say I'm too disappointed that the butcher at Sam's Club didn't know there were 5-two...
