I agree with this. Under 1000 CAD the stainless rec teq is going to be your best option. Most everything else in this price range is going to be thin painted sheet metal that’ll start rusting within a couple years.

You could certainly use the cast iron griddle as a heat deflector and in place of the ceramic deflector. It might radiate heat a little more then ceramic but the Goldens cast iron Kamado style cooker seems to do just fine using all CI..
