Small brisket in the Pit Barrel Cooker today. Trimmed out yesterday and layered with my homemade dry rub. Let sit in the fridge over night and 7AM this morning got the cooker going. About 5 hours latter the IT was 165F. Wrapped in butcher paper and back in till the IT was 210F. Held in my...
I have had my PBC for many years, think it was one of the first ones produced. Actually its time to paint it again as its showing rust on the bottom. Never had a problem with heat. Holds 250-280 for 7-8 hours no problem and thats my dialed in temp for most cooks. If I need hotter I just remove...
I have had these ones for years. (Dutch Wisks) I just ended up using it upside down. Old wooden spoon does the same thing. Old english baker told me not to waist money on new toys and just use wooded spoon upside down. Brings the dough together just fine and very little to clean up.
Why a strange year? Well most years we get 4-6 feet of snow. This year we got maybe 2 feet and most of it melted near the end of Feb. We do get snow storms in March but its kind of unheard of in April as we get mostly rain. Tomorrow will be 46°F so anything that fell yesterday will be gone...
Ended up getting 10-15 inches. Depending if the wind got to it or not.
Just a little video for hopefully the last snow storm of the year but this has been one strange year.
I cleaned the driveway last night, what you see here fell over night. All and all so far we have about 8 inches on the ground. Suppose to taper off by noon today. Our country schools are closed today for a snowday. Used to love those when I was a kid.
Sadly just up the highway someone died in a...
90% of my snow has gone over the last few weeks but mother nature decided to give us one last look at winter. (I hope)
Snow today and tomorrow they say.
Sour dough starter I have not fed it over a year just came alive by adding butter milk and caraway seeds. Poster said it was a old German recipe. I have to tell you I have never seen any of my starters purculate like this one. LOL
I collect the over rip bananas in the slots in the stand up freezer part of my fridge to be used for banana bread our smoothees. Decided on the banana bread. Dried cranberries added to the recipe.
Used my new fancy dancy bread pan that has a lid that slides over. It almost took 25 minutes more...
I must be losing what tiny bit of sanity remains trapped within my aging brain.
You're all probably being invaded by the same stuff that comes across on my feed but here is one that I just couldn't stop laughing at the instant I read it. Perhaps the madness in the world has blessed me with a...
They are different for sure. I was conserned with checking for the rise of the dough. Kind of went with the open pan and when it was ready the closed one was also ready. Guessing next thing I need is a bread slicer. LOL
It's been well over 6 months since I fed my bread starter. It was just sitting at the back of my fridge. Took it out and gave it good stir to blend all the liquid and doughy bottom back together. Fed it 3 times and back in business 🙂
Made two loafs today. Tried out my new fancy dancy bread...
