What type of pellets are you using (apple, maple, etc...)? I cold smoke my bacon with apple pellets and let it go for 10-12 hours. You mentioned on 2 hours of smoke on yours. I was just curious if you were using a stronger flavored wood. My buddies dad smoke our bacon the other year, and it...
I keep a couple of frozen bottles of water around in the freezer for when I cold smoke my bacon in warmed weather. I burn my pellets in an Amazn tray using the mailbox mod, and I'll put a frozen water bottle in the bottom of my MES30 if the temp starts to rise too much. This has worked well...
I had bought a commercial mini fridge last year for use when curing my meats and such and it was just too big for me to get down to my basement. I ended up selling it. Now I wish I had it back. Not that it was designed to be outside anyway, but I did have it outside and running for a little...
I guess this is a question I should have asked before building the stand I made. I definitely designed it for the width to have the mailbox to the side instead of below. I guess now I'll have room for a second Masterbuilt smoker.
So I had my Masterbuilt smoker sitting on a picnic and my mailbox sitting on a bench connected by the flexi dryer hose. THis has worked really well for about a year and a half. However, it was time to give my wife the picnic table back so I built a new stand which located the mailbox on the...
So I received my Auber Controller yesterday and started messing around with it. I initially did a test run with P=1, I=0, D=0, but I was still seeing about 10* +/- temp swing. So I switched it up to the P=1, I=0, D=100 that you mentioned here and that keeps me at about 2* +/- temp swing, and I...
I just made these for the first time on friday. I ate the first one this morning and they are amazing. I will definitely be making these in the future for family gatherings.
What is the Auder controllers ability to withstand weather? Or should I plan on bringing it insode each time after using the smoker? Mine should be here on tuesday.
I'm planning to build a hutch of sorts for my smoker today to give the unit a little more protection form the elements. I plan...
Thanks! You pretty much confirmed what I was thinking was correct. Don't worry, I know not to put the smooth white & black wires together. Also, I went ahead and ordered the WS-1510ELPM PID controller today, so that should be here tuesday. Hopefully I'll be able to get that all up and...
Chopsaw, I was looking at your post where you did the rewiring, but my wire colors are a bit different, and I just want to be sure I do this correctly. I'm thinking I need to go White to Red, and Black to Blue for my smoker. Do you agree?
So the wiring in my MES30 looks a little different from yours. my braided wires are blue and red instead of black. I think I need to connect my white & red wires together, and then my blue & black wires together. Would you agree with this?
So
THey want to replace the digital controller & circuit board. Circuit board is out of stock until early may. Cost to me is about $40.00, and that may or may not fix the issue. The next step is to replace the cabinet she said. I'm thinking it's time to buy a new unit and start over.
Absolutely! Tried the unplug and plug back in. Tried disconnecting the digital control on top and reconnecting it. Seems to me its the internal thermometer that has gone bad since it thinks its 300* when the unit is still cold.
SO I went out and turned on my smoker this morning to smoke some dried beef, and the display is reading that the smoker is 300*f. Mind you it's only about 45* outside and the smoker is cold. So obviously the heat element will not turn on as it thinks the smoker is already at 300*. Has anyone...
My buddy & I will be doing our annual hog butchering next Friday & Saturday. I guess I'm going to be getting a few ingredients together to give this a shot. Just so that I understand, all the mixed ingredients get injected and there is nothing for the ham to "soak in", except for what may leak...
