Hi,
Just tell us about your cook.
There are several procedures most people follow.
Also it would be good to know what you expect and want as a finished product.
Pulled pork is a very popular smoke and most have their own procedure to achieve there wants.
You have taken the first step by...
Hi
I used the microwave and boy did I get in trouble. The pallets smoked and the wife cussed. I found the safer way was to put them in the tray when I preheat the smoker then light them. Also by preheating the smoker you help prevent a lot of the MES temp swings. Jted
Hi, Tom is right, There has been volumes posted on MES heating elements. I know I have written
about them several times. Here is a link to one

Hi,
I feel your pain. As far as cleaning I never clean the smoker with commercial cleaners. A 50 50 mix of cider vinegar on a damp rag will clean and kill the mold. Pull the grates as you have never cleaned them Spotless. Then rub them down with the vinegar mix. With the smoker unplugged wipe...
Hi, Welcome to the forum. Yes there is a mod I use. The River Rat Damper. Here are some shots of it Very simple to make out of a vegetable can with hand tools. Jted
Clearly there is a divide here. We have two Opinions and no definitive proof to either side.
So take your pick. I started with the water pan filled. That lasted a few smokes. I tried it with out water and found no differance in the moistness of my meat. For the last few years I foil it and...
Welcome, Over the pat 5 years I have learned how to run a MES 30 and my point and shoot camera. Pictures of your work are appreciated and almost expected. If there is one thing we like are nice pictures of your results.
You have received a lot of opinions. Just ask and you will receive more. Jted
I didn't see the 3 either. The 3 was 6 something and the 3D was 899.00 I would not want to have a integrated PID If I bought one. Don't get the Idea I don't like PID's It is that I like to have a stand alone one. That is What I have. It is my second. The first was a wc1200 and it was...
Welcome to the group. You can learn a lot and get many opinions. Technical questions will be answered fairly accurately where as questions on personal taste are just that. A Example is the amount of smoke on a piece of meat and the flavor. Not everyone likes oak and mesquite is too strong for...

Nutshell did the same thing I did 4 years ago. smokers are just heated chambers that induce smoke. In the case of a MES 30 You get a insulated box. It is not the best insulation but it is insulated and it is fairly safe at a good price. Here are some other upgrades you can do that don't cost...
Jerry. welcome to the forum home of many opinions.
Wifi SS w/window or basic?
Let me tell you most all sub 600.00 digital smokers all use the same type of controller. They are a averaging (coasting) controller and the internal box temperature will fluctuate by 20 to 30 degrees in most cases...
Hi, Geebs suggested using a grate cleaner. I use Weber Grate cleaner. I use a sink in the garage and set them in it with out water and spray them down give them a hour or so and scrub with a SOS pad. Easy peasy nothing to it but a little elbow grease. About your window I don't have one but I...
John, The induced heat was from a hair dryer. I had this start several years ago and I had thought it might be moisture in the element but after countless hours heating I thought it would have evaporated. With the GFCI being so sensitive I will probably never definitely pin it down. I am just...
John, I do believe the induced voltage does and has caused the leak you spoke of. I would like to know your thoughts on why when external heat is applied to the element it will not leak enough to trip the GFCI. Jted
Just a few words and thoughts about heating element health. Recently like in the past few weeks I replaced my 800 watt heating element because it was tripping GFCI receptacles. While troubleshooting the old element the only thing I knew to check was the resistance of the element. It was reading...
