Welcome to the group Dave. I started off a lot like yourself. I too have been tinkering for years, and find the process of it very therapeutic indeed. This is a great place for ideas, reviews, and motivation. I have a list of "cooks" I want to try before the weather here turns too white.

In my time playing with a pit I'd really concentrated on the old standbys-Ribs (pork and beef) Butts, Briskets, and Meatloafs. I have my recipes and feel pretty good about them, but there is always something to tweak.
But the fattys, the ABTs (turds)...
That's a great idea with the beans Chile. I love beans almost as much as I love meat. I'll be giving this a shot shortly. Along with the ribs, pun intended.
I had heard of ABTs, but hadn't run across these "shots" yet. There's quite a bit of room for variation there. Yours look freaking awesome, thanks for the idea.
