thank you! My first time! I realize that sausage is to an extant a science. Ratios must be in line, ie measure your meat and fat ratio and be sure to have an digital thermometer monitoring the smoker temp for us offset folks.
I checked the cooker temperature with teo separate methods. The thermometer on the grill and probe to thermopro and they both read around 300 all day. I had a probe at grate level and it read 185 on the unlit side.
From what I have read on several sites the ribs should be cooked at 290-305 to...
David these are on sale right now. Mine are all Bluetooth and would like wifi. Dont know how good they are though. I would have to buy 3 packs of Thermometers as I need 7 in all. Suppose to handle 10 units.
Gateway with 2 Thermometers $27
Thermometer 2 pk $20
...154 degrees so the meat is safe. And it only got down to 138... many people will hold meat at 140 degrees to keep warm.
Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you need your own smoker now... and a thermometer with alarms to use on overnight smokes so you'll be woke up when there's an issue.

Appreciate it. I have a spare lid for when I use the vortex. Even though I never have seen any damage from using it. I do need to research a thermometer for this lid though
You will want to verify the temps in the cabinet... If you have a remote/wireless thermometer that you can use to track the temps in the cabinet... And then compare them with what the controller is saying they are... This is why people will do the PID mod as the controller is hardly ever...
...time... Plus, I don't own a cell phone..

Sorry I'm of no help here. I don't use a standalone thermometer anymore. I do use an insta-read to tell me what temp the meat is, and it also doubles as a probe. For checking tenderness. My 26" kettle came with a lid mount but I only use it to tell me when my temp is rising or falling.

...to say I wasn't too impressed with it overall but I did get a few things. The one thing I was really hoping to find was an instant temp thermometer and they had a Thermopro marked down. The other stuff I wasn't looking for but got a couple of meat shears and basting brushes. Heck, they...
I plan on using whatever I get in my garage cooking area. Use mostly for snacks rt
Thought of that.
Prefer an electric unit with baskets, cover etc.
Thanks
Hi Brian, thanks for the tip! I never wrapped this up...life has been in the way. But I like the gateway with two therms. the bluetooth one I have is ok, but it would be much nicer to have it all on wifi.
I was gifted some sourdough starter jars that come with the band (hours/days of the week) as well as a 'thermometer" strip.
Being kind of doubtful, I added hot water to the jar and stuck that strip on the side.
No change that I could see. I've seen lots of them advertised on amz and they...
I want a refer/freezer thermometer for our second unit. I have a bluetooth one, but I dont love it. I would rather switch to a Wifi and use my phone....if I can do so without breaking the bank.
Any recommendations?
...for five hours now and the ribs are only 166 degrees. I added some sauce and wrapped them at about 160 degrees. Should I be using the thermometer on the grill (it is pretty accurate) or checking at the grill as I do when smoking?
I have read several methods for cooking the ribs and this is...
