Guess I'm just a weirdo; unless you're going by weight, I always just eyeball it and let the hands do the work. Never been off so much that it ever bothered me.
Right, I'm not even aware what traditional Cuban bread might be like. Might have to research that. No, these were just sandwich rolls that I picked out of the bin at Winco. Pretty good for $.33 apiece.
My rail tomatoes. Still hasn't been real warm here yet, at least not for more than a couple days in a row. I had to ziptie the planters down, as the wind knocked them down twice.
These are two varieties I've never seen before, Gin Fizz on the left, and Firecracker on the right. Also have an...
Swayed by yet another enabler :emoji_wink:, I had to try Okiejoebronco25's Cuban sandwich. I love these things, but have never gotten around to trying them myself; they are hard to come by in my area.
So off to Winco to get some pork loin and used his marinade recipe, even down to the chopped...
Looks great, Steve!
"Velveted 1 pound thin cut sirloin against the grain for 30 minutes. Then drained and rinsed well."
I tried velveting some flank steak for the first time last week for a beef & haricots stir fry. The recipe I looked up online made no mention of rinsing the meat afterward...
Very nice! Would love to hear your opinion on the smoke and the taste, as I have a brisket and Smokin' Pecan Pellets that are waiting for their slot sometime this summer.
What kind of rig are you using? I used to have a cheapo horizontal that necessitated staying up all night, too. Eventually, I...
I saw a quick video (Tik Tok?) of someone doing this the other day and thought I'd give it a try. For the 1st time, I did it as shown in order to form a baseline, and it was fine, but now I know how I'd change it.
I pressed a sheet of room temp puff pastry into a 6-cup muffin pan by pressing...
I see rockfish at my local Costco all the time, and I've been sorely tempted. But of course they are Costco-sized packages and I live alone, and as you say, it doesn't freeze well. Next to ling cod, it's my favorite for fish & chips.
Huh, I had never heard of pink pineapple before. Had to Google it.
Looks like it's pretty hard to come by right now. Maybe it'll get more popular. Interestingly, I think pineapples are one fruit that is cheaper now, than when I was a kid in the 60's-70's. I can usually pick one up for $2 and change.
Looks great!
I saw a similar idea a few years ago, but the pineapple was hollowed out, and then filled with rubbed Country Style Ribs (sliced pork butt.) Never did get around to trying that.
