Just want to add here that Dave's coarse pellet dust will work in the new AMNTS Oval....

Just now seeing this thread... I am testing Dave's coarse dust in the new 12" AMNTS Oval tube and it is working awesome!

I'm not a pellet guy but have read a lot of complaints about the same thing. A lot of guys add in a pellet tube like the AMNTS. This gives you a consistent smoke. I run the tray in my MES40 and get 11 hours of smoke without having to touch it. I don't think you will be disappointed with the...
...heat and the chips are bursting into flames and getting the smoker over 350°. Chips are smoking at the one setting and chunks higher, but now there's babysitting to get the learning curve down with different size wood from chips to a chunk that barely fits that is eliminated with the Amnps/Amnts.
If its anything like my smoke vault the flame hits the bottom of the chip pan causing the wood to catch and hence the smoke. That would be a lot of heat on the AMNPS and pellets and they might just burn up. I believe the AMNTS tube works better in the gas rigs. Might check into that
I can't give specifics as I don't have a Pellet pooper yet. But I can tell you many of the guys get an A-MAZE-N AMNTS Pellet Tube smoke generator and use it for Smoke flavor at any temp. No fuss with setting changes and adjusting. Program the desired temp, get the tube smoking add Meat and relax...
Yes it works but I light through the perforated SS as well to get the AMNPS and AMNTS properly lit with a red hot glowing coal cherry at the bottom with pellets on top and a torch will burn through the aluminum. You may have to light it standing on end with gel alcohol or hand sanitizer. I...
Yes. I use dave's method and wet the pellets, they expand and fall apart. I spread them out on cookie sheets and dry them either in the smokehouse during a hot smoke or in a warm oven (270*).

...last night!
I too had trouble with the tray in my MES and went with the tube but discovered it produced to much smoke.I ended up modifying it with ubolts and using crushed/ground pellets and man I've never looked back.

...get me for Christmas, relatively inexpensive, so a new smoker isn't a good answer . . . for now ;). So the first thing that came to mind was an AMNTS for my 24" smoke vault. I've been on a mission lately to find a way to get continuous TBS and avoid the "campfire" smell (as opposed to a nice...
If your're going to start using the tube here's a couple things you might want to look at .

...the opposite. The smoke wood igniting before it made smoke from smoldering. This was a common problem with chips and the gasser chip pans being too close to the burner. Guys raised some, used Cast Iron Pans and Chunks or eliminated the pan and made smoke with an AMNTS, Tube filled with...
I've got 2 AMNPS and 2 AMNTS from Todd... I make dust from his pellets also.... It burns much cooler when making cheese and cold smoking stuff like bacon....
I think too much smoke makes meats etc. taste like an ashtray... Just my opinion.....
Yes . I grind the pellets to a course dust , and light with a propane torch . Gives a nice thin blue smoke . I also have a u bolt on the front to elevate the tube .
