    Another tamale pot candidate!

I built my mini WSM with that exact same pot.  All I had to do was compress the rolled lip a little tighter against the side of the pot and it fits so snug that I don't have any smoke leaks.  Thing is rock steady on temps.  I am so used to just reading the charcoal smoker section, I didn't even...

    EECB--Wattage=Smoke

I hear ya..and agree with the ECB being an effort, but like all first steps, it would be rather remarkable to start out at a run. I have a couple of racks of spares sitting in the thin blue right now. What a chore finding space for the st. louie cuts and all the trimmed goodness. I`ve already...

Hello from a new hopeful - first smoke with pics and ?s

...new to smoking but love grilling. A few friends have UDS and have urged me to get into this addiction and I caved. I'm going with a mini WSM build so any help for guidance is appreciated. I don't have much time to smoke but I'm hoping to make it a regular weekend activity. I do have a...

    Hey there!

Sure do! I posted a little bit of the build in the mini-wsm forum. I'm new to smoking and it has been a great intro. I already have some plans with my father to build him a drum smoker, that is if he doesn't get lazy and just buy one! This forum has been informative and friendly all around. ...

    Smokey Mountain Cooker questions

I too have a homemade mini WSM, but I understand not wanting to mess with a build. If you've got the budget I'd go for the 18.5" Weber. It's big enough to cook for a crowd but still fairly frugal with charcoal. It shouldn't require any mods, and as for arriving with missing parts, Weber's...

Hi All! New to smoking. WSM or UDS build?

Basically your question boils down to cost - because a well built UDS will work just as well as a 22.5" WSM (or close enough to it that it really won't be a big difference). I will say I have never used a UDS nor own one, but I do know there are a lot of folks that get great results out of them...
