Newby : Looking @ possible smoker options ?

...on a WSM and learned a lot. Eventually moved to a pellet smoker and I love it. Much less fuss and it’s not affected by weather. When I was shopping for the pellet smoker my top three were MAC, Rec Teq, and Yoder. But shop around and make a list of features/build requirements you must have.

    Yoder 480s info

I had a 480, and it easily handled a brisket. I filled the racks with Polish sausage smoked at 165, and they came out great. You need to rotate them once in a while.

New Englander Shopping for Pellet Smoker/Grill

over a decade ago my top three were Req Tec, Yoder, and MAC. No regrets on the req tec! I passed on the Yoder because of weight and rust (even though I know it doesn't affect performance), MAC is very nice - my old butcher had one running all the time out front, but it was over budget. Any of...

Issue with the Lonestar Grillz Pellet Smoker

...in the pellet hopper and see where they are getting out. Has to be a gap, in your case a good one. I recently replaced the fans and such on my Yoder 640. Removed the fan panel and there were pellets in there, maybe a 1/2 cup. This was after about 6 years of serious use. I can’t figure out...

I don't get the hate on Pellet Smokers.

Yoder YS640, Purchased new Spring of 2017. This unit has been kept in a screened in porch for the 1st 2 years then got moved outside. Sometimes covered sometimes not. Has been rained on without a cover more than once. Got flipped over while moving it with forks on my SC tractor. Has had at least...

    "Upgrading" to a charcoal cabinet?

...primarily wood for heat and smoke. I did side by side comparisons with my propane smoker with wood chunks (a Camp Chef Smoke Vault 24) and my Yoder pellet, and while the CC did seem to have more smoke flavor, the food from the Yoder was picked unanimously by my family for the complexity of...

Hello! I just bought a new Yoder and I'm pretty excited about it. I've been smoking for years so nothing new but learning the Yoder might be a bit of a learning curve. Gave up on the Treager. WSM has been the standard for years interspersed with a stick burner and a few others here and there...

New Englander Shopping for Pellet Smoker/Grill

RecTeq, Yoder & MAK are still my top choices as well. Each can provide a size to fit one's need. BTW: MAK is 100% American made as well.

My first time using a pellet smoker

On the Recteq "LO", it cycles the fan on & off much like what you described about the Green Mountain. It works fantastic on mine! It generates ALOT of smoke. From what i`ve measured for temps, its running at around 180 degrees when on the "LO" setting. It only does this on the "LO" setting...

The open small rack was done in about 40 minutes and I let the foil covered rack go about 50 minutes. Small...
