    Lower gas smoker temperature

I have a needle valve before the burner valve and after the propane tank valve. All of the valves except the needle valve are fully opened. The needle valve controls everything. At below 140° there is so little gas the flame at the holes in the burner is so small that it flickers on its own...

Venison jalapeño cheddar sausages 2nd try

First I tried using the grinder to stuff it with. It kept pushing a bunch of air into the casings and it was difficult to control. So I used my jerky gun and that worked better, but I had to stop and reload it frequently. Being able to load 5 or 10 lbs of meat into a stuffer would be a huge...

    Lower gas smoker temperature

I also am running a needle valve and also like the idea of closing off some of the burner holes to increase the size of the remaining flames.

    Hot/cold smoke house build

Do you have a pic of the bottom? Your saying that's a turkey burner with a CI pan and wood chips, the above that sits the drip pans? Do you have a cold smoke set up piping in from outside as well, or you don't cold smoke? Do the drip.pans catch enough to keep the bottom from getting rancid?

Which Needle Valve assembly for MB ThermoTemp Smoker?

If I recall correctly, this is the type of regulator/needle valve assembly that others have used to get lower temps for their propane smokers...

First Ever Sweet And Sour Pork....WOW!! (Lotsa Pics)

...to cooking in a wok is very high heat and the turkey fryer burner puts out 50,000 btu's. I put 10 psi regulator on the gas supply and a needle valve at the burner inlet that allows me to easily control the heat. I use the Cento Tomato Paste in a tube for small quantities. You can find it...

Needle valve on propane smoker with odd regulator

I havent done the needle valve yet. But I have seen where folks will cut the hose midway and place the needle valve there. That is what I intend to do (when I can get more than one day off at a time)! Jim

Needle valve on propane smoker with odd regulator

Looks like you have many options where to put the needle valve. Just be sure that the valve is in a good place for you to easily adjust it. If you can mount it somewhere on your front panel makes it very convenient. I would pick the choice that gives the best access.

Thank you, Smoke. Did you attach the needle valve to the other end of that line? BTW, where in Oregon are you? I'm right across the Big River to the north, up in the hills.

Needle valve on propane smoker with odd regulator

...when cold smoking sausage? If so, what kind of temps are used? Now days, my gasser is used more often for cold smoking fish and cheese with no heat. Mr. Needle Valve sits dormant, but the days I do use it, it's great to be able to adjust down. Never have had the flame go out.......not yet.

Needle valve on propane smoker with odd regulator

most people don't realize just how low you can get the temps down to on propane smokers, but by using the needle valve you can get the burner flame down to almost nothing works great for cold smoking sausage

Needle valve parts and usage ?

Hi all, new guy here and to smoking in general. I have been searching around the forum and have a couple questions about needle valves. I think the parts I have here will make it a fairly easy install. I have MB230. I found a 1 foot lp line with 3/8 ends and a needle valve with the 3/8 flare...

...a UDS to my MB gasser. Centered in on the top. Temps seem to run higher in it now. Even with the control all the way down it still ran hotter than before. Guessing its drawing much better. A needle valve is in my future. And I agree with @tx smoker prob will need a second stack to balance. Jim

Oops. I think I originally did the needle valve with hose clamps, but guess I then did a more natural install as shown here..

    Masterbuilt problems

Here is my setup, it is heavily modified with a wind skirt, PID controller, smoke generator, and a convection fan. It is one of those crazy ideas that works really well. I started with just a needle valve and it made a night and day difference.

    Replacing propane line

@daveomak has you covered. Adding a needle valve will give you much greater control. Since your connection is non-standard, cutting in a valve is your best route. You will need a valve and two barbed fittings.
