...XL BGE, Weber smokey mountain, Stumps XL baby gravity feed, a Cookshack electric smoker, the RecTeq Road Warrior, a Gateway drum smoker and a Yoder YS 1500s, which I am now selling due to space issues.
I will need your help as I venture into my new goals of trying whole hog, trying wild...
Parents got us a pizza kit for my wifes an I birthday since they are only five days apart. There are four of us so made four 12” pizzas. Fired up the yoder, took out the diffuser plate and added two pizza stones. Let heat up while wife made the pizzas. Turned out great.
...reviews I see of bad boards, poor temp control, warping, thin gauge sheetmetal, and the like have given me a moment of pause.
I have a Yoder YS640S that does an amazing sear job due to its removable two-piece heat/drip shield. This gives the fire pot direct access to the grate, allowing...
Louisiana grills are made in China along with most others. The American made tend to be higher end and pricey. For reasonable priced American made check out Blazn Grill works. https://mgrills.com/ Seem to be well made and are cheaper than Yoder, MAK, Lone Star etc
I emptied the pellet hopper, removed all the pellets and vaccummed the compartment housing the fans and electronics, and inspected the auger. No gaps that I can detect. I even clean the fire pot out after each cook. After cleaning out the fan area everything was running as normal.
I have 2 Yoder pellet grills (need the space for large gatherings) and I love them but would like to get more authentic with real fire. I am not sure that I want to spend the time tending a stick burner offset, so I am looking into charcoal cabinet smokers- LSG or Meadow Creek.
Will one of...
...good brands of stick burners out there. A major factor is shipping so if you live near a dealer or can drive for pick up that helps. Lang, Yoder, Shirley, Meadow Creek, & Lone Star to name a few. These will probably cost more than a pellet smoker, but will last forever. Lots of good...
...in the USA. I have the Grid Iron. Solid unit.
Smokin Brothers makes one, but I know nothing about them.
Lone Star Grillz makes some, but similar cost to Yoder.
For an economy model, the China made Green Mountain Daniel Boone is hard to beat. I have one for a backup cooker, or for when needed.
...shot. I agree with @chopsaw. I made a spreadsheet and went deep in the rabbit hole to help me sort out my decision 10 years ago. My top 3 were Rec Teq, MAC, and Yoder. from what I read, all very solid machines. Rec Tec won my purchase and I have zero regrets and recommend them all the time.
Hi! What sticks burner did you get?
Meadow Creek has some nice Pig roasters.
Some are on trailers , depending on how much you want to expand your kitchen!?
Good luck on your BBQ Comp !
...want to take a look at the Pellet Pro from Smoke Daddy. I don't own one but I've been seriously thinking about it for a few months. I love my Yoder. It's built like a tank but a vertical would suit my current needs much better. The Yoder gets down to 150 and holds it pretty well as long a the...
I just have thoughts,
The air flow is variable, never really optimal as a defined number. This is because many physical things are at play all the way through the cook and must be adjusted for, this is why it takes time to become a “pitmaster”. No amount of electronic equipment or gadgets will...
...and an awesome burger!
No pics just wanted to share that for anyone who's seen them but like me stayed away due to the price.
Got a pork butt in the Yoder right now :) We're gonna try something with Poblanos & pulled pork.
Hope everyone had a great Independence Day!
