...it's going to launch into orbit off the canner. I haven't tried a plate, yet. I usually just pressure can on the kitchen stove. Adding a needlevalve in the propane line may be another option. I wouldn't so much worry about the aluminum as these canners are meant to use on gas, as well as...
I read on their website it could be used for anything because it could be adjusted really low. The one I have now if you just touch the needlevalve the flame changes drastically in either direction so there is no real fine control.
So far my valves have not caught fire. Even at elevated temps...
Thanks. I appreciate the offer. It's not that cold here rarely ever getting below freezing so this burner will work for now. Thinking bout trying this regulator. Seems like it will work little better. We will see tomorrow...lol.

A needlevalve and a watchful eye. I run a turkey fryer for a burner with a cast iron skillet on top as a heat diffuser and place wood chunks in it to produce smoke.
I believe you'll be looking for (needing) an inline needlevalve... all of the threads I have read about gassers usually end up doing that mod... I don't use gas but I have read about them ...
The search window (top right ) will get ya heading in the right direction...
Also.. welcome to...
...info. Overall I have preferred gas over charcoal not for taste but control of heat however this smoker has me stumped. I will try the needlevalve for heat but that is not going to help me generate smoke. My previous smokers had the wood pan right above the flame. This one has the chip pan 8...
...cabinet and two aspects of the project will be mostly done. I still have to deburr the drilled holes and I will put a thin layer of hi temp RTV, wish it came in black. Most of the parts are in for the needlevalve and the solenoid, the rest I get locally. So that can also be done this weekend.
...up I couldn't get the temps down low enough so I started to tape over some of the slits to cut back on the number of flames... Using a needlevalve for control of the gas flow I finally got the temps down to where I needed them.... The next problem was that the flames were so low/small that...
You need to add a low pressure needlevalve to your LP gas line, so you can make slight adjustments.
The needlevalve is the brass Tee handle valve, they are way more accurate than the valves that come on gas smokers or grills. And they won't break the bank.
I got this picture off of Amazon...
Propane Smokers are a PITA. They have to be fed chips or use a Generator like an Electric. Require a needleValve Mod to get temps below 225 and can be finicky. A Fart in their direction can Blow out the Flame. Pellet Smokers recover as fast or faster because of the Fan convecting heat...JJ
...over the burners and put a stainless steel pan on that grate with the smoker wood in it. Propane is regulated with a micro adjustable needlevalve so once it's dialed in it stays right where you leave it. Just add another chunk of wood to the pan once in a while and let it do it's thing...
...and ambient temps would make a difference of what you need for a burner. If I can find it I'll try to find some info on a burner and a needlevalve that Pop's used in his smokehouse build, or you can search for it.
I used a hole saw to cut the hole. My intake is on bottom right hand side...
Yes you showed me your build , I am very impressed . I have the needlevalve you helped me with ,
but now I want to set up for cold smoking. I am not a machinist . so I might have to do like a mailbox system. Just playing with the ideas on paper first before I cut holes into the Masterbuilt...
...enough oxygen makes it very bad. We are returning the smoker to before mailbox, with a better stack and am going to continue where I left off.
The smoker now has a needlevalve so it is more adjustable and it has a solenoid so I can add a PID controller or even make one if I still have the...
