...I can't find it available anywhere. Maybe it's because of the time of year.
I really didn't want to make my own out of a weldingblanket. Have any of you had negative results from making your own out of a weldingblanket? Have any of you used both and can tell a difference in heat...
What a great day for smoke'n a brisket in the winter wonderland of Minnesota. This year I decided to invest in a weldingblanket to help get control of the temp swings as I believe the only time I can't smoke is when I am gone. So here is the question I am hoping I can get some feedback from...
...I feel like Newglide brings up a very good point that is worth reiterating.
Outside of the multi probe remote thermometer and a weldingblanket, it is wise to avoid going crazy or buying a bunch of gadgets, or any gadgets at all until you get some things sorted out.
I know I've bought my...
...of thumb is to keep it wide open. Also if you have the glass door condensation will build up on it,but making sure your unit is level as @Steve H suggested would be something to check first. In truly cold weather these will still struggle so as suggested above a weldingblanket can be a great...
...like the one she got (everbody loves pokin' a fire!). Char-Broil American Gourmet 1280. Metal is a bit thin (planning to pickup a weldingblanket from Harbor Freight), but I know it will serve me well as a learning tool before I have to figure out a way to tell her why I NEED a 250 gallon...
I use a felt weldingblanket year round. Even in hot conditions it keeps the fuel consumption down. I have had no difference in cook times related to the blanket.
...to buy a Pit Boss insulated cover for my 800 series but couldn't find available anywhere. Decided to give the $35 Harbor Freight weldingblanket a shot and WOW! I don't know how much better the name brand one could be but this was definitely worth it. The temp at 7am Sunday was 30 with a...
The Camp Chef factory winter blanket would probably look a little nicer, but I can't imagine it would work any better than my HF weldingblanket. I was actually going to spring for the factory made blanket, but it pretty much staid out of stock so I ended up with the weldingblanket. Does a fine...
Looks great! We saw near 50F Sat here in Ohio so wife said steaks tomorrow. Of course, it's mid 40s Sunday day of cook LOL. Fired up the gasser and for the 2nd time used my new HF weldingblanket. OMG it works so well. A little weird to use but results were like summer.
...insulated, I'm sure an old fashion moving blanket would probably work as well. This is assuming the exterior wall temp is much lower than the interior temp and that the exhaust vent is on top. Electrical smoker? And it's not raining? Seriously?
Oh,,,,,,just get a welding...
Made a 3 sided and top coat for MES 40 out of Reflectix wrap and then HF weldingblanket around that. Does well but would be tough in todays -17° and 30mph winds. Real feel temp at -51° now, no smoke for me today :emoji_disappointed:
...day, burned a lot of wood, mostly apple with some cherry. My RF "Lefty" is small at 60 gallons, 8 birds max. It was windy so the weldingblanket helps out.
Trim and rinse birds
Inject, dry, oil rub and pepper
Birds on to cook. Try to maintain temps above 270F.
Cook until IT...
