6kg of pork or chicken is just over 13 lbs. You can easily smoke that on an UglyDrumSmoker. You can build one quite easily using 55 gallon drums. Use the search bar, look in the build section, and Google it to see how it is done. ...
I am building my first uds this spring. Couple barrel questions. If i buy a new steel unlined 55 gallon drum, do i need to burn it out? I'm assuming i need to burn the paint off the outside? Any good places to buy single new barrels?

Here is a whole sub-furum dedicated to building smokers of every kind and budget type. I personally am in the middle of collecting everything I need to build an UDS (uglydrumsmoker), just waiting for the fire danger to drop down so I can burn it out.

Get the WSM! Great smoker great price easy to use another option could be PBC(Pit Barrel Cooker) or build an UDS(uglydrumsmoker)

I hope to find...
...pipe fittings--a great way to convert to white PVC once you get below 200 degrees. The other trick I do (and is common with the uglydrumsmoker crowd) is to route your inlet air lines UPWARD along the outside of the Brinkmann "drum". That way, the air is "falling" and gravity is your...

Hay all, starting initial planning on my UDS and wanted to get some advice on how I should proceed. my initial question is, I have a 55 gallon drum that was used to hold motor oil, If I clean it out with heavy detergent, then do a long hot burn in it and finish up with a wire wheel with an angle...
Well since our basketball team, the Cyclones, decided to lose an early game in the big tournament I thought I'd make some more canadian bacon. Which led me to here and all the buckboard bacon recipes I see.
I've been smoking meat for ~5 years. I enjoy my UDS, uglydrumsmoker.
...a bigger pit, and really couldn't see parting with several hundred for what was a new hobby at the time, I decided to build a UDS (UglyDrumSmoker). Shopped around for all the required material for the fabrication.
