I got a Weston #8 home model for $35 ie not the butcher or pro series. It handles my needs as I don't grind more than 30# in a year.
Personally, I would not go smaller than a #8 as you really have to knife the meat into small chunks to fit down the throast.
I can direct grind in the fine plate...
...it when I worked in the meat dept. at Winn Dixie many years ago, or tenderizer, as others call it, enough times. When I do mine with my LEMgrinder attachment, I run the meat through 3 times rotating it 90° each time.
But the fried steak and gravy looks great!! I think I'll try the breader...
Big Bite? Does it handle the second grind (fine grind) pretty good? It's a bunch lighter weight than the others at like 28lbs. The others are all just over 40lbs. Not sure why such a big difference. Hopefully not plastic gears?
Those are some big machines.
I cannot speak to the Vevor 30# mixer but I once had a "20lbs" hand crank box mixer and used it about 3-4 times, it only fit about 17 actual pounds of meat. Worst meat processing item I ever bought so I ended up just moving a using a rectangular cooler with a high...
Just need 1lb of pork, why get the heavy LEM out when I have other tools.
This is a #5 porkert hand grinder.
The wood pusher my dad made me back in 1974.
The LEM #5 plates and blade fit the porkert, just lube the rear of the auger, blade and plate. Make sure the front cap is tight...
I think you are getting a lot of great info.
Bare minimum:
2 of these Meat Totes from Academy for mixing and holding meat before stuffing and to put stuffed sausage into. This is working space stuff and makes handling and cleanup and refrigerating a breeze. Oh and if you aren't doing tons of...
So, in the market for a new grinder. Not in a rush, just starting the journey. We are looking at Walton's #22 or #32. It's really hard to find NEW, non sponsored, reviews on anything anymore. So, I'll let those who have one comment here.
Pro's and cons of the Walton machines? Not just "it...
Congratulations on your purchase.
I don't have a LEMgrinder.
I have a Weston and it came with 3 grind plates (don't recall the exact sizes) plus the worthless plastic stuffing plate.
I used the medium plate for most generic grinds.
I started using a mix of the medium and fine plate for...
Hey guys I own a meatyourmaker 22 meat grinder and would love to hook it up to a mixer? Does anyone know of any that works or an adapter to buy ? I heard possibilities of the Lem 25 tilt working but it does not, so looking for something that will work before I explore buying a different grinder...
I agree about moving the equipment. When I finish the cooking area in my garage, I have a bench set up for the electric stuffer and grinder. Between uses I will keep them covered.
@chopsaw ; Inox plates will fit perfectly in the LEMgrinders. Cabela's pates run a little larger so not sure if they will work or not. I have an LEMgrinder....
...to push backwards over the flights of the auger and eventually becomes mush.
I have a LEM dual grind head, but before that it was just the standard LEMgrinder head. It’s a fairly tight fit with auger and body, and I have zero issues doing double or tripple grinds. Always grinds clean and...
Biggest one you can afford….. with a grinder the more expensive they are the beefier they are and the more they can handle…. It’s all in lb/min …. I have a LEM #32 never let me down wish I had a bigger one lol
