MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

Looks like a high resistance connection is responsible for the burned out element. I took MrWhipple's suggestion and checked the terminals that connect to the heater coil. They are in terrible shape. Complete corrosion on the inside of the terminals and very loose fitting. These will need to be...

Converting a propane upright to pellet

Keeping temps in the 100’s is not for pellet pots. Pellets are for bbq and grilling temps. An electric converted to PID (as mentioned) is a better option. Propane can work too, that’s what powers my big smokehouse. What are you wanting to smoke?

    Smokin it #3 Vs #3D

...own a #3 analog. No complaints this thing is built like a tank. The analog works perfectly for ribs, pulled pork etc. But I also have the Auber PID that I can also hook up when I need more low stable temperatures for cheese, fish, sausage, salami etc. I have tried them all and I am older now...

New to the forum, but not to smoking

Hi there and welcome! The guys have you covered. Page 1 of the forum post that SmokinEdge linked to will give you a rewire guide. The Auber PID link that Winterrider linked will take you to the minimum model PID that will do all MES units. Many guys opt to go with the wifi version of the...

Electric Smoker WiFi 710 model temp calibration

...readout was at 215 and ind. at 225, digital at 250 ind. at 273, digital at 275 and ind. at 302. The digital unit did get up to 290 while the independent showed 325. I think i would like to explore installing a PID. Could yo recommend a reliable PID but on the low dollar end. Thanks Again David.

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

Ok, I'm convinced. I'm about to pull the trigger on this PID. Is this good?? https://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=702:7cd115bc474613a63db2913ca229476a

    PI Controller project

I'm from the age when a lot of controls breadboard design began with pneumatic. A few years later controls were digital that needed A to D translators.

    Electric Smoker Temperature Controller

That's also what I was going to suggest. Would definitely be my starting point. Keith

    Cold Weather Smoking

...while. Yep, all electronics will have temperature and humidity limits, and circuits will eventually fail. I have enough spare parts to build a PID controller for my Smoke-it #2 Analog but I see no reason for doing that. Being Analog, the temperature sensor directly turns the heater on and...

I would like to give a shout out to @JC in GB.

fork, I did a little bit of research on this a while back cause I was considering it as well as on my knife forge, many knife makers PID control their forge temps. There are a number of propane supply/safety control valves that are PID controllable, ie they have pilots/thermocouples and auto...

Converting a propane upright to pellet

It would be for snack sticks and summer sausages. That’s what the big one is for but I want one for smaller batches. I like to start low. Electric is probably the way to go.

    Auber PID not working

So I bought an Auber WS 1211H PID to use with a basic Cuisinart analog smoker. Aubers customer service said all I have to do is set the dial on my smoker to high, plug smoker into back of PID then plug controller into wall outlet. Did that and nothing. I changed the PID to single step mode to...

For a propane smoker the PID uses solenoid valves to control the flow of propane. Here's a thread where OldSmoke discusses it and posted pictures of his propane PID: https://www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/variable-wifi-bluetooth-propane-regulator.324585/#post-2479479 Propane is not...

    FrankenSmoker

This comes from the Smokin-It forums on how to bypass the analog controller and add an Auber PID. It's my understanding the Smokin-Tex wiring is identical.I'll make the assumption that you've already seen it but I'll post a link just in case you missed it...

    Empire Cat. 43 Steam Engine

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw it too. My parents had one for the longest time. The cord frayed a lot and eventually caught on fire. I looked at that one. It says it's for the B43 so I'm not sure if it would for or not. There are a lot of various widths for the prongs.

    Sous vide and Instant Pot

...would be the best move but not knowing if there are peaks and valleys to average the temp vs holding to within a degree of a stick circulator PID maybe an issue with an Insta Pot vs a stick circulator SV since you can test anytime with an instant read digital therm. IDK. I can only repeat...
