Washington Group New Members Introduction Spot

Yeah I love it! I also built a version of the Slow 'n' Sear for it for indirect cooking and it works great! The reason I want an offset smoker is that I don't have to open the cooking chamber too often.

    Barbecue Pit Build

Hey all, Anyone in the Vancouver area or nearby know how to get a 250-500 gallon propane tank? I've called a bunch of metal scrap yards and they either don't have these or they won't sell anything. I found one on Craigslist for $180 but I was hoping to find something under $100. Any help...

Hey all, name's Andrey, I'm a union carpenter in the Vancouver/Portland area. I've been here pretty much all my life, happily married now with an 8 month old daughter. I started smoking meat last year, tried ribs and brisket, both turned out pretty well. I own a 22.5" Weber Kettle grill which...

    Slow 'n' Sear build

Hey all, sorry haven't checked my posts in a while, have been pretty busy. I actually just got back to building the slow'n'sear just a week ago. The way I ended up doing it is I bought another Weber grill off of Craigslist for cheap and just cut out a section of it to match the roundness of my...

    Slow 'n' Sear build

Hi all, I'm in the process of building a Slow 'n' Sear for my Weber grill. I wanted to paint it or coat it somehow. What recommendations do any of you have for paint so that when the coals are burning, the paint won't release any odors or smoke onto the meat? Would powder coating be okay? Is...

    iGrill2 problems

I just bought an iGrill2 and decided to use it for smoking my brisket. After a certain time, the screen on the thermometer shuts off but the thermometer itself is still on. I can still view the temperature when I press the power button. Does anyone else have this problem or is it a normal thing?

    Grilling pork ribs

Thanks for the reply! I bought a chimney starter, coal holder for the grill, a hinged grate, and a thermometer. I was thinking towards that two zone you described. I've seen some people have a water pan for added moisture? Should I do something like that? How long do back ribs usually take...

    Grilling pork ribs

Hi all, I'm grilling ribs for the first time tomorrow. I have a 22" Weber kettle grill. I'm planning to smoke/grill the ribs. I bought a bunch of different accessories, but I was hoping to get some tips and tricks from you all to get some good tasting ribs. Any advice would be appreciated...

    Newbie from Vancouver, WA

Thanks Al! Yeah, I thought cedar might be a better choice, but my dad wants to build the walls from logs so it would look like a log cabin. I like the log cabin idea but pine isn't the best choice for lumber...Idk, maybe I'll convince him. Thanks for the reply

    Newbie from Vancouver, WA

Hello all, I'm new to smoking/grilling but I really want to get in to it. I'm drawing up plans to build a cold/warm smoker, which will somewhat resemble the picture I attached here This one's built from cedar, which I heard is a good wood for smokers because it prevent rot and whatever else...
