I have since solved my problem thanks to @tallbm on here. He has been a life saver. Get you an Auber PID. Problem solved. Tallbm has a rewire guide that is step by step easy and makes your smoker better anyway. Do it man.

So the mailbox is only for the chips and chip tray? No heating element in the mailbox at all right? Im new to all this so forgive me but i dont see how the chips will be heated in a separate box than the element?? Thanks for responding!

In regards to that AMNPS tray you recommended to use, that will fit in the MES bottom? I cant picture where i would put that to make it fit with everything that is inside the smoker. Are there more modifications that has to be done if using this for smoking?

I have a Masterbuilt 40" electric smoker (model# 20072612). I restored it from father in laws backyard. I gave it some attention (replaced the element and a few cosmetics) and was able to smoke a rack of ribs on it. After that, the control panel quit working. It was missing the button covers...
