I have a Rec Tec RT-700, it works great. If you need a large cooking space with good price, I highly recommend a Camp Chef SmokePro LUX or ZGRILLS ZPG-1000E 2020. My friends own them.
I am looking for the best all-around meat grinder. I can spend around $1500 to make sure I get a good quality product. Do you have any recommendations?
I love pellet smoking. With your budget you very difficult to find a good pellet grill. I recommend a product from Zgrills: Z GRILLS ZPG-450A 2020 Upgrade Wood Pellet Grill price $368.
I just got a pit boss too. Mine runs hot, like very hot. I'll set it to 250 and sometimes it'll be up around 300. I do intend on calling them soon. I've heard this is a possible solution where they can send a new control board. I was just hoping that mine wouldn't have this defect.
I'm no expert in thermodynamics, but I don't see how one grate could get hotter than another with the same hear source. Sounds like a marketing gimmick to me.
A thicker, heavier grate like cast iron would maintain temps better, but even those don't somehow magically get hotter. 450 just may not...
If just firewood to use I'd start with the citrus growers in the area and see off they have pruning wood pile.if just to add for smoke walmart,Lowe's might have chunks.
