Sorry.... had to fry a couple up, but....

I've been lickin my lips for over a week just droolin at the thought of standin at the counter pickin at the carcass of a fried turkey. I bought a couple on sale right after thanksgiving and gave them 4 days to thaw... and into the fryer.

Bird One!

Bird Two!

Didn't have to bother with dinner. By the time I had these carved and bagged... I was full as a tick. I didn't want all this hot oil to go to waste so I slammed some bacon around some italian sausage and into the hot oil it went.

These are the next thing goin into the smoker. Sliced up and layin on a bed of sketeeee noodles and marinara sauce. Good Lord!

How did the sausage turn out? I had never thought of doing that do you fry them often? Looks good bud.

Great Idea

Two things I always have around, sausage and bacon, never thought about deep frying them together.

I love this place.

I was watchin a food show the other night and it was about this little place in Arizona close to the border and a little dive that serves up a bacon wrapped hotdog in a sliced pita type bun with all mexican fixins. It looked pretty good and got me thinkin. These sausages deep fried are going to be awesome in some other dishes or just makin a sandwich... I can't wait to try some of them smoked. They are waiting patiently in the fridge.

I'm always lookin for something that can be smoked or cooked up to snack on when we get together to smoke something that takes a long time..... something you can rustle up the night before when everybody is smelling the hog smokin. This is gonna be one of those things. Quick and easy to make and tasteeeeeee.

No matter ow many birds I smoke I still have to fry aleast one for the family. But I still have 2 left so I heard of smofried and I think I will have to try one of those before to long.

We've never tried Deep Fried Turkey. SWMBO is hung up on the "grease"/oil flavor that might be present. So, obviously there's a school of thought that says NO! Right? Always looking to expand the horizon's. She's kinda ok with deep fried foods like fishes, oysters, shrimp etc.... so what can I say to get her to think about turkey?

Very nice PignIt!!

The best part of a turkey to me is the nice thick turkey sandwiches and the soup I make with the bones. It don't bother me a bit to watch others "Pign out" (no Pun intended..biggrin.gif ) on the turkey because I know my time is coming...but I usually get some of course...

Anyways Great job on the birds and wrapped sausage!!
