Can natural gas be used on a GOSM?

A friend of mine is thinking about buying a smoker. He doesn't want to use LP, he wants to convert to natural gas.

Anyone ever do this or know if it can be done?

Any help would be great ... thanks.

In theory a natural gas regulator is the only modification needed. But I am not entirely certain that this is the only thing needed.

First off Squeezy, you might have your friend look for a smoker already set up for natural gas such as the GOSM 3605 BGD http://www.shopping.com/xPF-The-Great-Outdoors-3605BGD .

If they can't find one then at least try to find a manufacturer that sells the kit to convert the burner from LP to natural gas. Natural gas requires a much larger orfice than LP and should be of the correct size. I'm sure nobody wants a natural gas bomb sitting outside their house.

Natural gas should be regulated at the meter. One problem may be that some cheap models use cheap valves which may need to be replaced. Which is why it would be best to find a kit or unit already set up for the natural gas

I looked in to converting mine briefly. The main hose on mine is crimped where it goes into the valve. It looked like I would have to change out the adjustment valve. You can get a natural gas burner from most gas companies, and different valve shouldn't be that hard to find. NG should be regulated at the meter, but that is not always the case. When I hooked my grill up, it looked like a flame thrower. I had to get a regulator to put in line. I would still like to convert mine. Now that I have the Char Griller, I may it look in to it again.
