Just joined and hope to learn a lot.  My name is Gary and  I have had the same smoker for 20 years (an old Okla Joe, 20" offset smoker with a 42" horizontal section, 54" vertical section which I acquired in a trade for two gas grills). I am a student when it comes to BBQ and have come to realize that I do not know nearly as much as I need to produce really good BBQ consitantly. This looks like the place to get the help you need to raise your game and I look forward to learning from the great experience that resides in the forum. I had the good luck to be born and raised in GA, and have lived most of the last 17 years in Texas so I have experienced some great Pork and Beef BBQ over the last 57 years and love burning meat over a fire. I also have a Weber kettle, the best charcoal grill for the money ever made(and a great smoker for some things), and a Caja China roasting box and I play with all of them. I am semi-retired, spend a lot of time on Toledo Bend with my wife, chasing bass, crappie and a grandson.

New student signing in, and thanks for the help in advance of the lessons.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
