New to smoking , first time doing ribs. Tell me if this sounds right.

Have a MES 40

preheat smoker to 250

250 degrees for the first 2 hours with smoke

Foil wrap ribs with apple juice for 2 hours

finish up approx.40 minutes out of foil

then last  20 minutes with sauce on ribs

rubbed ribs down with dry rub

h20 in water pan

hickory chips moistened

does this sound right?

any suggestions?

Sounds pretty right to me!

You can add whatever sounds good to you in the foil, if you like spicy put something with some heat, if you like sweet then some brown sugar or honey. Apple juice works well with pork but I've seen people use beer, Dr Pepper, white grape juice and on and on, so it's pretty much whatever you like or sounds good.

Being it's your first time keep it simple and keep a log of everything you do so next time you can refer to it and tweak what you liked or didn't like to make it better.

You don't really need to moisten the chips, that just delays them from smoking until they dry out again.

Sauce is a personal preference but if you like it then adding it the last 20 mins would be good.

thanks guys for the quick responce and suggestions, another 35 minutes and doing the foil wrap...i hope the ribs taste as good as the smoke thats comming out of the smoker lol
