Started a (much smaller) fire in the fire box about 45 minutes ago, oak lump and hickory chunks. Once temp got to 225 i added about 5.5 lbs of pork shoulder to the chamber. As of right now she's holding steady at 250 with some smoke that smells edible itself. This is a vast improvement from my test burn yesterday which held steady at 350.

Last night i rubbed the butt with some mustard and spice rub recipe i found on here somewhere. I apoligize for not being able to credit the source at the moment. Somewhere close to 2 hours in my dear sweet loving wife wants me to add some potatos and whole corn. What kind of husband would deny his wife some smoked corn?!? :yahoo:

If anyone is interested, i'll do a review of the final product with a q-view pictorial.

J-Dub, according to most on here, if there's no Q-view it didn't happen. :) Therefore, Q-View is required.  I'm just northeast of you here so I'll be lookin for the smoke signals.

Q-View: am I doing this right?

yes you are doing it right. When new members post pics the spam fighter holds them for review . One of the mods must okay them and then they are posted. this will stop after XX amount of post.

Very good looking smokes by the way!

Thanks for the kind words everyone.  This first one turned out better than I expected honestly. Without the collective knowledge here at BBQ U, I would not have had nearly as much fun nor nearly as good results.  Undoubtedly, the next one will be even better and next weekend will NOT come fast enough!

WHOOMP, there it is
