No contest! Weed burner wins hands down!

I tried it this time at a lower setting that didn't scare the turds out of me. I had it lit in less than 2 minutes. I also have one of those propane gauges on my gas tank and it didn't appear to use much. I'd say it was ready to cook on in like 6 minutes.

I suppose if you already have a propane burner and a tank of propane handy it would work just fine.

However with the chimney all you need is one piece of newspaper and a match. Mondo cheap just takes 5-10 minutes or so. Much more portable to carry around with you too.

There is something to be said for almost instant coals though.

If I had a weed burner I'd use it...but until I get one I'll keep using the old chimney.

I have 3 chimneys! One weber and 2 generics. I'm sure i'll still use them when time permits, but today I wanted coals fast to cook some top sirloin steaks for me and my wife!

Btw..i'm a fan of both gas grills and charcoal. Never can have too many grills! ;) I need to stop scouring craigslist for grills. 8 is enough!!!

side burner on gasser makes chimney lighting easy

i've started using those firestarter packs (similar to weber cubes) to light my coal. i rarely use my chimney anymore. it's a one step process now.

Yes, I've used the side burner too. That's pretty easy and i'm positive it probably uses less propane too. If you in a hurry though, the weed burner does the job!
