I'd make loke a mole and move underground...

Wow you have to have a rider on your termite insurance for rare breeds, man I wish I had started an insurance years ago.

Did you do a DNA test on the termites to be sure they were the FORMOSIAN termites? Maybe they got US Citizenship or a Termite Green Card...

Holy crap, they eat concrete?! That's insane. And complete BS that the insurance company won't cover that. $300k out of pocket would financially devastate most people.

Wow, I did a quick google and learned the typical Formosan termite colony is 10 times larger than regular termites. In addition they will forage out to 300 feet, and large colony can literally destroy a house in 3 months.

You really have to feel sorry for that home owner.

I think you might have problems being in that house. Are you sure it wouldn't fall down on you when you are tring to fix it back up.??? If not let me kow if you need help.

from carpenter bytrade youve got some trouble there, dig a trench around the place and fill itfull of water with crude oil on top.

DAMN DUDE , NEVER EVEN KNEW THERE SUCH A CRITTER ! Reminds me of the 1st time I came across fire ants .

Sometimes mother nature will just kick your ass and there's nothing you can do about it

I feel for that guy, house destroyed and no insurance man that's gonna set the retirement date back a little.
We get different plagues here. Every seven years or so we get these damn Japanese aphids

look just like ladybugs but these are no ladies! We had them so bad one year we had to stay in a hotel for 3 days. They literally covered our house. You could go outside and look at the house and it looked like the entire house was moving. They will come in every little crack and crevice.
The wife and I tried to battle them. I had the shop vac and she had the house vac. We were trying to suck them up as fast as they would come in. We knew it was a losing battle after about a half hour.
Called the exterminator and he just laughed. Nothing you can do once they are there he said. Then he adds "you aren't smashing them are ya"? I said "hell ya I'm in a war here buddy! to which he says "you know that yellow puss that comes out when you smash them"? " Thats a phermone they leave behind it leaves a odor so that they know where to come back to next time"

Oh Ya these are annoying. they cover the house and do get in in every crack.

Used the shop vac, sucked them up, dumped in a few moth balls. the next day empty them into the trash and start over.

Hey Montes, what you have there are the asian bettles. They were introduced many many years ago by none other than the government, to help assist farmers with the aphid problems on soybean plants. They are here to stay, I assure you. And there is a spray for them, its called Tempo. 1 oz to 1 gallon of water sprayed on the sides of your house from top to bottom, usually just the North, East and West sides as those are the sides that receive the least amount of overall daylight. When they come out, and attack your house, they do so because the cold weather is coming and they are looking for a place to nest, so to speak. Also, spray from the bottom of the house where it meets the ground to approx 6 feet out. They are attracted to bright colors, WHITE, more so than darker colors. Shades of Blue seem to attract them the least. Tempo has a very good residual property to it, meaning it will still kill them several days after it is applied. A small bottle is about 40 bucks and will last you 1-3 seasons, depending on your application. I have a house and a large shop, I get 2 years off one bottle. If you think you got em bad, come down to out place in August, we got em in Biblical proportions LOL.

Oh, and they taste just like they smell. Believe me

Formosans are a big problem in New Orleans. The city has a program to slow their spread but they are destroyiing large sections of the city. They have even taken to living in our Live Oak trees so there is a lot of money spent on control.

I believe there is a law to report Formosans so the entire neighboorhood can be watched - treated.
